I'm pretty sure Quick doesn't just decide to let in some goals because it's the regular season. It's more like the Kings Dmen don't go full interference and obstruction mode until the playoffs.

He hasn't been great overall this year. Let in a few soft goals. But in this game try watching it vs just looking at the stats. He couldn't have stop any of those tonight.

If you let forwards sit in the slot you will not have good numbers. Kings D has been subpar especially the PK.

Doughty has been great. Look at his pairings. Doughty has been the only bright spot.

Just took a quick look at the stats for tonight and it looks like that Nashville has had 2 power play goals tonight and they've only had those two shots on the PP.

Quick PP Save % (Incl. Tonight)= 60/72 ~ .833%

Miller PP Save % = 79/86 ~ .919%

Quick's PP Save % puts him in the area of Thomas and Anderson. Even strength is a different story, he's at about .918, but the PP and SH save % is killing him

Sure, Conn Smythe two years ago I get that but Miller was MVP of Olympics in 2010 so he's gonna get his chance if he's clearly outplaying Quick by the time the tournament comes around. There are other guys too with how deep the US in net that could potentially win the job.

One game sample size, but he was amazing against the Rangers (McDonagh goal aside). Haven't seen any LA games since, so I'll defer to everyone else. But I'd have to imagine he'll pick it up and get back on his game soon. Every goalie goes through rough patches.

He's looking like Ryan Miller stats-wise. One huge year and then average (though Miller is atleast above 91%).

He's killing my fantasy team that's for sure, I was expecting him to have a dominant year.

This is the only thing wrong with him, everyone's fantasy teams

Not one bad goal against vs. Nashville tonight. Not playoff dominant Quick, but it's not like he's crapping the bed. Defense just holds the other team to like zero shots, then all of a sudden its tic-tac-toe plays and in.

TLDR, he's fine. Team defense just needs to focus.

Edit: as a side note, he seems to get cold/lose focus in games with low shots against, but goes beast mode when he gets a lot of work. Just anecdotal, too lazy/drunk to dig up the stats now!

He let in a few terrible goals during the playoffs last year too.

Did you watch the game or are you just looking at the boxscore?

This.

And I'll echo others statements that it's more that our defense has beed faulty. Quick hasn't been a lights out, yet, but he hasn't been terrible either. I still wouldn't trade him for any goalie in the league. When we get him into the playoffs, he will do just fine.

Maybe the team is just conspiring to do the whole 8seed thing again

He's always been mediocre to downright bad at times in the regular season. He got outplayed by Bernier for much of the regular season last year, this time the Kings don't have that luxury. When the playoffs start, it's tough to find a better goaltender than Quick.

The only issue I have is whether he has Cam Ward syndrome (i.e he shows up for small sample sizes but then suddenly stops- proving that these are more anomaly than norm).

Not Cam Ward syndrome though... look at his numbers.

2008/09: 44GP 2.48GAA, .914sv%
2010/11: 61GP 2.24GAA, .918sv%
2011/12: 69GP 1.95 .929

Three seasons with enough games to be considered legit. Insane numbers in 11/12 and two very good seasons otherwise. I'm really thinking injury had something to do with it.

He's really only had one phenomenal year, but even in the years prior to that he had a couple average to good seasons recording a sv % of .914 and .918. Now he can't even seem to do that. He most likely will never duplicate what he did in 11-12 again. Id be a little worried if I were a Kings fan. Too bad for them they no longer have Bernier to fall back on. I really think he's going to have not only a longer career due to his playing style (relying on sound positioning rather than flopping around like a fish), but a more successful one as well, stats wise that is.

Should try watching the games and not looking at the box score.

That's my theory as well. Shame really if that's the case.

Naw, in a shocking announcement it will be John Gibson.

But really, in the games I've seen, the defense has been more than a little questionable. Every goaltender benefits when his team locks things down in front, and suffers when they get sloppy. Quick should be fine.

he's a Cam Ward, got hot at a really opportune time. You're watching the real Quick right now.
