I know A is Yakupov and one of B and C is Stamkos' start to his rookie season. The third is probably Kreider's NHL career so far reg. season + playoffs. Probably B: Stamkos, C: Kreider.

Yakupov had a 20% shooting percentage when he scored those 17 goals, he isn't keeping up that pace in a larger sample.

But yeah I'd trade Kreider for Yakupov straight up no questions asked, one of Nash/Yak/Zucc can definitely shift to LW since they are all left handed shots.

I think a 1-for-1 trade, where the one you're getting is better than the other one, does something to help the situation.

The most I'd do for Yak is one of MDZ/Girardi

One of Miller/Fast/Lindberg/Zucc

And a 2nd or 3rd.

I see a lot of oilers fans thinking that they will get McD,Kreider + for Yak, they are living in a fantasy land. People were saying that is what columbus wanted for nash and sather balked, but they expect him to offer the same package for a 20 year old relatively unproven NHL talent?

Well I know A is Yakupov, C is Kreider..

I'll take the mystery box and go with B

That is seriously debatable at this point in time, buddy.

Any trade involving Yakupov is a gamble, with all the maturity issues and threat of absconding to the KHL. If I'm going to take that gamble, then I gamble with assets from my area of strength. In NYR's case, that's LD. I don't gamble with a player in Kreider that has gone into beast mode and is finally showing signs of fulfilling his potential.

A is Yakupov (19) in his rookie year last season.
B is Kreider (21) in 48 AHL games last season.
C is Kreider in his NHL career to date.

With all this talk, however, I will say that if the Ranger's brass pulls the trigger I trust theyafe the right decision. They seem to be much more studious when it comes to dealing for players. Who honestly thought, outside of maybe a few, that McDonagh would be a stud?

I trust they will have done their research and if they don't feel like it's a risk and they do it I'll trust them.

Free agency on the other hand is a whole other issue.

We need to be trading from a position of strength to address a weakness. A Dman has to be the main piece in any deal for Yakupov. Yakupov for Kreider straight up solves nothing for this team, and only introduces more questions.

What these guys said.

Without discussing point totals and all of that jazz you don't trade Kreider for Yak. It's really simple to understand why too, it's a lateral move. A D-man has to be the main piece something like Girardi/Fast/2nd for Yakupov/warm body. Tweak from there.

I wouldn't trade Girardi and fast for Yak. I think a deal revolving around MDZ makes more sense.

Who's playing 1RD if Girardi goes in a trade? I know it sounds insane, but I would trade Staal before I get rid of Girardi.

Staal's been pretty brutal this season.

Ironically enough him and Yak are fighting it out for worst +/- in the nhl.

This.

We take a chance on Yakupov at the expense of excess LD depth.

The plot thickens - from Edmonton's radio play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels:

Dallas Eakins wants Yakupov to realize that ALL supposed reports of his imminent trade are absolutely FALSE. Told him that today.

Not quite sure how you're looking at this. Nash is out for possibly forever. We need to look at his replacement here in this deal. Krieder looks like something is clicking, what you wait to see in all your promising young players.

Yak could be our Gaborik. We need to accumulate scorers not swap spots.

I still contend its borderline fantasy that Yakupov can be had for MDZ and a prospect.

I posted this on the trade board:

If he were North American people would be saying "oh, he's young, give him time", but no, he automatically gets the lazy/no work ethic tag because he's Russian.

He's played 61 games and has 18 goals. Let's look at some other top pick's production through ~60 games in their NHL career:

Gaborik: 18 goals in 71 games. Best comparable for Yakupov, I think.
Heatley: 19 goals through 60 games.
Tavares: 17 goals through 60 games.
Kessel: 9 goals through 60 games.
Stamkos: 13 goals through 60 games

All at similar ages. But yeah. Yakupov sucks and is a bust.
Freaking out over Yakupov's lack of production is ridiculous and overblown. Because there hasn't been a lack of production. He's had a tough start to his sophomore campaign. Oh, the horror.

I will not take the one who is a flight risk to the KHL and quoted as saying:
Quote:
Iím going to play my game Ö Iím not going to change but maybe play better without the puck, or forecheck more, but I love playing with the puck. I really donít like skating all the time, and forechecking, and hitting somebody every shift. I donít think itís my game.Ē
At the expense of the other 2.

That was great. Almost had me choke on my food.

OT though, I want Nail. Like stated, it's not everyday someone of his caliber is available at his age. No McD, Cally, Hank, Stepan and I'm all for it.

I think Krieder should be untouchable. He has too much talent, and with his size and speed, is something that is almost impossible to find.

I would deal any combo of MDZ/Girardi/Miller/Picks/McIllrath for Yakupov or Gagner. Adding another young scorer would do wonders for us. I also heard a rumor that they're discussing Macintyre and Hemsky as well. So it seems like there's some traction.

However, the Eakins comments could be true. So we'll see

That may very well be true, but a deal being made with MDZ as the main piece to bring back some F help should be able to net us something good.

You're not getting him for MDZ in my opinion. Doesn't help EDM. That wasn't my suggestion for a trade, merely what I think it would cost.
