The Sens will take Price with their pick, so that's one less offensive forward to be taken, and with Jack Johnson in there, that means 7 forwards will most likely be taken before the Canucks.

Who will they be?
Probably: Sidney Crosby, Benoit Pouliot, Bobby Ryan, Gilbert Brule, Anze Kopita, Marek Zagrapan, and maybe a defenceman or Ryan O'Marra.
Alex Bourret appeals to me. Or the Swedish winger, Bergfors. Then there's the Burnaby kid McArdle who scored 37 goals in his second year in the WHL. (That's what? 80 goals in the QMJHL?) Promising....
I would really like Nonis to trade up a few places -- depending on how things work out over the first three or four picks -- and grab Brule at 5 or 6.
I like Brule. He's tenacious and skilled and fast. He's the kind of Fleury-like player who will succeed once the new rule changes occur.
Didn't mean to offend, but it would take A LOT to trade up. Particularly in this draft, because pick #5/6 has so much more value than pick #10.
yeah, I know. I just think we're in such a good position to get a very, very good player this year. Who knows when the next time will be when we'll be able to draft a potential star player? I like Skille but if he's taken I'm not too high on anyone else around the #10 spot. I don't think we'd have to give up too much to get into the top 5 or 6, thus there's definitely a serious chance we will try to.
At the #10 pick, my first choice would be Alex Bourret. He has speed & likes open ice hits to go with a decent scoring touch. Those skills are well suited for the new NHL rules. I think in a couple years you could see a 1st line of D Sedin, H Sedin, Bertuzzi and a second line of Cooke, Kesler, Bourret.
After Bourret, my second choice would be Luc Bourdon, then Jack Skille.
10) Vancouver - O'Marre - considered the "safe pick" of the draft... known of his leadership ability and his maturity... sounds like a Canuck draft pick to me.
.
It's funny. You probably meant this to sound like a good thing, but I can't help but read it in a negative light. Yes, that does sound like a Canuck pick...God Damn it.

well I did finish it by saying:
Quote:
I'd love to see someone rated lower go in the top 10, or even O'Marra going higher. I'd take any of the other top 10 picks ahead of him other than Price (with Schneider drafted in our last draft, I'd hate to see us go after another goalie prospect with our #10 pick.
Briefly, my guesses as to the three most likely to be picked players are (as will be detailed in the Canucks Draft Preview hopefully out tomorrow).
1. Jack Skille (The Canucks love to go to the US)
2. Guillame Latendresse (Perfect fit for the twins)
3. Nik Bergfors (Also an area mined by the Canucks in the past, and one where a prominent team scout conducts court)
2. Lack of forward prospects with top end skill
3. Lack of big and mean crease clearing defenseman
1st Round priority should be a centre or a winger.
Hanzal (he's so hot right now) should be considered if we think his potential is high enough (with low enough of a risk). Skille is a definate consideration if he is still available. Latendresse if we think his skating can be improved. Bourret might be considered, I'm not really sure what his weaknesses are right now though, what sort of offensive upside could be expected of him once he's in the NHL?
How was Bertuzzi's skating in juniors?
When it comes down to it though, I hope the Canucks don't go for a bunt, and instead aim for the bleechers with a home run.
As for Dmen, I see them picking someone that fits our needs in 2nd or 4th ronds, after that I wouldn't be surpised if they went for the typical Dman Canucks prospect (Edler, Skinner, Koltsov) who I think could be very valueable in the new faster, higher scoring NHL. While it might not be like that right off the bat, that is the direction they want to take the NHL.
Safe to say we probably won't see a goalie picked, but you never know..
JACK SKILLE! At first I didn't really want this kid, but hearing all these scouting reports make me want this kid so bad on the Canucks. A physical, goal scoring winger, who can pot in goals, a Bill Guerin playing style.

I'd like to see us try to take Chad Denny in the second round. He's physical but he's also mobile with some offensive upside. High top four potential.
I'd suggest you guys to draft Skille.I've seen more then 5 times (the UNDTP u-18 team). He put similar stats to Stoa despite not playing with Kessel and Mueller.Stoa played with Kessel and Mueller all year long, while Skille with Mercier/Lawrence/Gerbe.
He has great scoring abilities...isn't afraid to play physical.Has always impressed me.Will be interesting to what he'll do as a freshman with Wisconsin.

Speaking of Gerbe, I think he would be a great sixth or seventh rounder.
