I know based on criteria some teams get 3 balls, others (Kings) two, and the minimum will be one.
1. Will they start at number 1 and go down the line? Or will they start at 30 and work backwards?
2. If a team gets their selection but have two other balls in the running and they come up again in the first round, will they just throw them out?
I'll be watching NHL.com for a live feed at 1:00pm pacific standard time.
They'll start from one and move backwards... There would be no advantage to having 2 or 3 balls if they were going to select the 30th team first... They might announce them 30 to 1, but they definitely select 1 to 30. And yes, when you're picked, your balls are removed. (That actually sounds painful )
From what I have heard they are doing the actual lottery drawing behind closed doors from 1-30. Since the news conference is at 1:00, I would expect that the actual drawing has already been done or is going to be done soon, so they can prepare. The only thing that will be televised is the results. They will be announced from 30-1 ala the NBA lottery draft.
