That whole sequence must have been scripted. It was just too good.

what made the Stefan one great is the oilers scored 5 seconds later.

Patrik Stefan could have been a 100 goal/season scorer for the 10 seasons following that open net miss, and the would still be known solely for that play.

Honestly I liked him when he gave it his all everywhere on the ice. He just doesn't give the same effort anymore and I dislike any players that have the talent to be better than everyone anywhere on the ice and they don't care to work that hard.

So that's why. On top of that, everyone drools over him even though this kind of stuff happens nearly every game.

I think you should watch more Ovechkin if you think this stuff happens every game. Anything he does that's considered "wrong" or "bad' by will be blown up huge because hes Ovi. The guy is a stud and plays a fantastic game.

Then Couture tweeted about it after the game:

ADDED BONUS: The battle in front of the net.

1. Ovechkin gives more an effort in every facet than he pretty much ever did. In 2007-08 or 2009-10 you'd rarely if ever see him skate the full length of the ice to stop an odd man rush. That's Oates' coaching.

2. How exactly does he not give the effort, why, because he doesn't waste energy hitting everything insight for no reason anymore? That's called playing smarter. A guy that has 36 goals in his last 37 games has to be giving effort.

3. Every game? Please. That GIF also makes it seem like he could've stretched out his stick and stopped the pass. If you actually watched the game, the goal was a defensive breakdown behind the net involving the Caps D and Backstrom. But whatever, details right?

I mean you must hate a lot of players then since there are a ton of offensive talents that don't play up to your Selke level expectations.

Anyone have the gif from the Wings - Stars game last night where three Stars players tried to hit Datsyuk and ended up just destroying each other?

I'd love to see it again.
