Thanks for the commentary all!

From my perspective (thus opinion) the session was not too illuminating, which does not surprise me. I hope I am wrong, yet I still get the feeling of "more of the same" from the Kings, even now that the NHL is post-CBA.

Here is to hopening I am wrong.

What a BS
Albi, you're right on the money. Not one question about Frolov? I was screaming at my tv saying "somebody ask DT about Frolov". There was not one relevant question asked by anyone in the whole press conference. Very disappointing. I also found DT's statements about the young stars of the future being available in the near future through UFA and how they will be able to pick them up when they are in their prime very disturbing for this year's Kings team. I got absolutely nothing from this press conference that I didn't already read somewhere else.

They'll probably re-show on FSN tonight and I'd imagine they will archive the webcast

I thought it was a joke by you Reaper45 and I thought it was hilarious considering that it was one of the only things I didn't know about the Kings' plans before the news conference. The statement during the press conference was that Robitaille is going to sign a jersey for every season ticket holder.

TonySCV,
You are right that it is a nice gesture and it will be a great piece of memorabilia for the season ticket holders. It just wasn't ground breaking news regarding which of our current RFA/UFA's the Kings are planning to sign or why didn't anyone in the press corp. ask about Frolov or any relevant questions for that matter. I hope you didn't take me the wrong way.

Watched it live at home and TiVo'd it. DT has come a long way from his stuttering days as a player. He's worked hard on it!

Yeah I know....but I felt bad for the guy. He seems to do fine when he doesn't have to read from a prepared statement.

Here's a recap.....

TL's Key Statements
  • Organization is dedicated to winning
  • Has to be a need to build and develop within, like past 5 years
  • Currently only $20mil garuanteed to 20 players
  • Will spend to upgrade roster
  • Feels about a dozen cuurent prospects will play with Kings in future

  • Franchise is challenged financial with cap, but will find star players
  • Pleased that the Kings have the 23rd lowest ticket average in the league
  • Will increase the $10 tickets from 500 seats to 1000 seats available everynight
  • 5% one-time rollback in ticket prices for season seats
  • September 17th game against Ducks is free to attend (more to follow in weeks ahead)
  • Will have more team-fan interaction (skating sessions, meetings, players mic'd, etc)
  • The franchise is in a good position to control destiny
  • Enforced that the team will be successful now that they have a level playing field
  • Gave a 10 year program as time frame from here on out

DT's Key Statements
  • Players payroll between 21.5 mil and 39 mil for 1st year
  • Next year and beyond payroll with either go up or down 8% from the midpoint
  • Current payroll status left the organization enough room to go get key players
  • Current overall financial makeup will help franchise keep key players
  • Franchise has key people who they want to keep and have the money to do so
  • Drafting has been the key to buidling this franchise back up
  • Kings are commited to keeping their draft picks (future)
  • Kings are commited to developing their prospects
  • August 1 the team will look at the FA market to determine who they can get
  • Resigned Lucky Luc to a 1-yr contract

I am with you 110%. More. 111%.

I didn't hear the conference but if he got more than about three sentences per minute you heard vast improvement from DT's unimpeded impediment. (Both the Latin majors interested in hockey squirm at the end of that last sentence). When someone like DT conquers and excels it gives me hope that we all might attain more than we are expected to accomplish, that victory can be ours over the trials we have been dealt in life.

Attention HOF - time to get on the DT bandwagon. Kings fans we should all be starting to push for the recognition that DT deserves. An absolutely deserving candidate.

I have always been a huge DT fan and I couldn't agree more.
