Flyers talking to Oilers about Eberle

Tim Panaccio ‏@tpanotchCSN 3m
Told today Flyers are talking with EDM about Eberle

It's from Panaccio FWIW.

MOD EDIT: Let's try to keep all Oiler speculation (Even though Craig MacTavish has said nothing else is happening) in this one thread, the first page is getting rather jammed up with Edmonton Rumors/Speculation.

who knows, but as I said elsewhere, if EDM is really committed to Yakupov, then Eberle has to become someone who they are at least willing to consider moving in the right deal.

Eberle would definitely add some much needed skill to the top 6, but I'm not his biggest fan.

Why would the Oilers trade their leading scorer?

Couturier would pretty have to be included if this would happen. I have my doubts it would though.

I think the working assumption was Simmonds +, rather than Couturier.

I don't understand why. They don't need forwards. Goaltending and defense is the problem over there.

I thought I heard rumblings that Hiller might be on the market. It would make much more sense for the Flyers to go after a goalie like that then for another scoring forward when that's not really their need.

Oh who am I kidding we're talking about Philly. The bastion of mis-organization.

Simmonds + pick and he's yours. Might be selling Ebs short but we need a shakeup and Simmonds would compliment the Oilers top 6 really well.

I would have to be a bigger deal since Flyers are basically over the cap.

Coburn + Simmonds for Eberle + N. Schultz with a little bit of salary retention for Oilers seems to be balanced. All main players have their flaws, but it's a that that would shake things up.

I'm not sure Edmonton would want to move a winger for another winger. It would be for a center or defense most likely.

Clearly you've watched a lot of Flyers this year. Mason has been the best player on the ice just about every night. Granted that is akin to being the tallest "little person" but the fact remains.

Defense is obviously an issue, but the whole Flyers = goalie problem is getting frustrating.

From what I've seen of the Flyers this year, which admittedly isn't a ton, goaltending seems like the least of their worries.

I'm assuming MacT would still have high interest in Coburn and he'd be part of any deal.

So, its obvious you have not watched a Flyers game this year. That's fine, as you're not a fan of the team, but your opinion of what the team needs is completely wrong.

They need a sniper and to not have Mesz on the ice.

What are you talking about.

Goaltending and team defense has not been the Flyers problem this year. Scoring has.

If they continue this goal scoring pace only 1 team in NHL history would have a lower goals per game than this Flyers team right now.

Please go.

Yeah for that price no he's not, thank god your not the GM of the Oilers. We do need a shake-up but does not mean we have to sell Eberle for less than he's worth, christ we need d and goaltending before another forward anyways.
