Dave Bolland next contract

So going into Saturday Dave Bolland was having a GREAT season and he was looking at AT LEAST Bozak money then he got injured so how much money if any will that cost him? what do you think he gets on his next contract now? still 4+ or does he take a hit?

I still hope he is extended

Dave Bolland has been amazing for us.

If his asking price gets anywhere near $6M good luck and see you later.

The cap's going up. A team will offer him near 6 mil. If Clarkson got 5.25 with the cap like this, imagine what Bolland, arguably the best 3rd line center in the nhl, will get as a UFA with the cap going up. He may not be worth it, but it's just how the market will be.

Bozak is actually a pretty good comparable. Somewhere in the 4-4.5m range.

no one is going to offer him 6M -- he is one my favorite ex-Hawks, but the sad fact is that he cannot be counted upon to play a full season -- he also has a concussion history

i'd love to have him back on the Hawks, but no more than $3.5M/season

You say that but watch it happen in the offseason. This league is nuts

Ditto. Really hope he resigns because he was great before injury.

Nonis will give Bolland the 'okeydoke' and signs him to a 6.5 mil 7 year ball buster of a deal.

Dave Bolland has been my favorite Leaf next to Kessel or JVR I LOVE the guy. That said I promise you Bolland WILL NOT get 6 million from anybody it's simply not a possibility.

Don Cherry compared him to Doug Gilmour. How much would Gilmour be worth in the modern NHL?

Your GM is Nonis, so anything is possible.

Good a player as Bolland is. The day someone of his caliber gets 6M, is the day the lockout was truly pointless.

So... it'll happen any day now.

My guess is 3.5-4.5M range. He may take less to help Toronto out, as I anticipate him re-signing.

Clarkson got 5.25 mil. Bolland is a lot better than Clarkson.

I agree completely - and I don't think it's even close. However his stats aren't any better. While I think they would be if he had top 6 icetime as a #2C or centered Kessel and Lupul/JVR as Bozak did, to date he hasn't really had that chance. Other than to fill in for injuries, and with this injury he likely won't get that chance this season (although it's possible he's back late in the year).

Other than Bozak, who would you use as a comparable? Peverley? Kelly? Neilson, Pavalski? Eller?

Personally I'd like to see him to go Edmonton as the #2C, and have Gagner shift to the wing.

Honestly I'm not sure he does. I think it depends on who hits the market (centers) and what Toronto wants to do. If they did sign him, it means they're banking on Kadri becoming a #1C, with Bozak and Bolland fighting it out for the #2/3 spots. That also becomes an expensive center group - especially if Kadri doesn't develop into a true #1C.

Clarkson also scored 30g a couple years ago. That goes a long way to getting a payday vs a shutdown #3/#2C.

Boyd Gordon got 3 million, so Bolland might be able to ask for a bit more than that

Peverly, Kelly, Nielson yes. He's not even close to as good as Pavelski or Eller though.
