I think my biggest offer for Eberle would be something like Simmonds+Cousins+2nd rounder(2015). I am not giving two roster players up for him, and you don't really see that often anyway. It's not that bad of an offer, and Nick Cousins can provide their third line next year with some grit.

Even this seems like a lot. Unlike many people on here, Simmonds has value. Just because the Flyers offense has a whole has sucked, doesn't mean their value is down at an all time low. If our GM or another GM thinks that, they shouldn't be managing a team.

I don't see that happening. The team should look to improving the defense next year and its ability to move the puck as the UFA class is pretty week and Coburn Grossman Streit and Gus (or L. Schenn if you prefer) is the current top 4 returning.
The flyers can't play 60% for the rest of the year?

I would pull the whole mob to Voorhees in the rickshaw I was gonna use to get Coburn to Edmonton for Eberle.

It don't really matter. Only in one season, 2008-2009, was there not an even 4 and 4 or 5 and 3 split between teams from the current division format. In that year, Florida would have made the playoffs at 93 pts and the Rangers would have been out at 95 pts. Also, those standings do not include Detroit in the mix now in the east.

Anything is possible. I haven't seen anything this year or last that leads me to believe the flyers can win 60% of their remaining games. 40 and 26 seems likely to you?

I do feel that we have to trade one of Couturier or Schenn, or in simpler English: We need to trade Schenn. Giroux will always be top centre which leaves Schenn or Couturier trying to develop with third liners. One of them just won't get the time and quality to reach their potential.

Therefore, move Schenn as a package to get a sniper winger. We need one.

Based on what we've seen so far, if the offense performed at any type of NHL level, they'd probably be much higher than they are now. Can the offense right the ship? I'd say yea, they can.

That or a ready to go #1 Dman.

Except those aren't really available unless they're on the tail end of their career, so never mind.

Schenn needs to convert to Wing with Laughton also behind Couturier. IMO, Schenn isnt good enough to become a 2nd Line Center anyway.

If the third liners are Downie and Read then Couturier should have no issue developing his offensive game.

I'd much rather move Simmonds in a package for a sniper. He still has value, and we don't need him, Hartnell and Downie in the top 9.

I feel with Laughton coming up next year we will make some type of move. Maybe Laughton starts at 4th line center, but it still creates a log jam the year after and so on. With Giroux, Vinny(much better playing center), Schenn, Couts, Laughton, something will give.

I won't be surprised if the Flyers make a big move at the draft this year.

I could definitely see this happening, especially if they keep up this crappy season. There's a definite log jam at forward already, and that's without guys like McGinn, Cousins, Raffl, Straka and Leier challenging for spots next year.

- The Flyers are vigorously shopping defenceman Luke Schenn (foot speed issues) and fellow blueliner Andrej Meszaros but both make too much money. Schenn, who came from Toronto for James van Riemsdyk, sports a $3.6-million cap hit for three more years, and Meszaros is $4 million, but he’s an unrestricted free agent in July. “They thought Van Riemsdyk was a little soft,” said one pro scout. Not so much in Toronto, and Schenn has been a healthy scratch three times.

It would be aggressively idiotic to have traded JVR for a guy they end up trading 65 games later.

If they are shopping Luke Schenn, was it wise to scratch him for three games? It would be pretty sad to give up on him after 50 or so games.

With that said, I'd take back that JVR for Schenn trade right now if I could. Though, it's not clear if JVR would be having the same kind of success with the Flyers had he not been traded.

Yaks agent is traveling to Edmonton to discuss the use of his client. Things might get sour up there soon.

Agree. It also makes sense to wait and let Schenn try to regain some of his lost mobility, rather than trading him for cap space.

It's also good to see that it's not just the fanbase that has the "what have you done for me lately" approach.

Luke Schenn for Nail Yakupov. I'd do that. Anything else and forget it. I'm completed against trading Schenn. It's way too soon to move him and we wouldn't get full value for him. Luke was great last year and can easily rebound and turn into the physical shut down guy we know he can be.

Yep. One of them won't be here for the long term. Question is, who does the organization view more favorably? I have the feeling it's Brayden, in large part because he scores more and plays with a physical edge (we all know the Flyers are a sucker for guys who hit). If we want to become a good two way team again though, ya gotta keep Couts and pray that he at the least becomes a 40 point 2nd line center, which is still very much possible, or hope Laughton can become that, which I feel he has a better shot at accomplishing than most do, though I still lean towards elite 3C.
