Touche.

However, we didn't know Bryzgalov was a flaming chemical spill of a trainwreck at the time.

Homer's only winning move is not to play.

As much as we rag on Holmgren, at least he's never done that.
Trading Eberle would have completed the hat trick, they would have had to fly in national security up there for Kevin Lowe.

If he can snag one of Eberle or Yakupov for a combination of Simmonds and Coburn, go for it. If they want another piece like Brayden Schenn or Couturier with Simmonds, hang up.

Mason has been nothing short of stellar since coming here and I doubt Holmgren is feeling all that happy about how Bobrovsky turned out in Columbus. At least as far as it reflects on him.

I have little to no faith in this front office, but they would have to be intentionally sabotaging the franchise to move Mason right now. Or clinically insane.

Logically, any deal between Edmonton and Philly wouldn't be completed until after tomorrow's game. The last thing you would want to do is help your opponent or piss off a player right before you play them.

I wouldn't have a problem with a deal for Hemsky involving Simmonds if one of J. Schultz or Klefbom is coming with him. The Flyers desperately need to be adding young high potential dmen into their lineup.

Here is an additional comment from the Edmonton Journal:

Quote:
Here’s how it looks from here: the Oilers are clearing $3.5 million off their roster which opens up room to add another position player in a trade–maybe a $4.5 million defenceman like Philadelphia Flyer Braydon Coburn, somebody they were after at the draft in June.

Maybe they go after a more aggressive forward like Philly’s Wayne Simmonds. In that case, they have Ales Hemsky to dangle in any trade because he’s an unrestricted free-agent in July.

“I don’t think the Oilers are done (trading),” said Smid’s agent Steve Kotlowitz.

It's still a small sample size though & I wasn't implying they would just trade him for the sake of trading but if the right deal came along. I just figured it would be Giroux who's viewed as untouchable & Mason in a tier below that with the likes of a B. Schenn, Couturier, or something.

At this point, Steve Mason is absolutely 100% untouchable. Way too much upside and he's playing lights out. One could only wonder what he would be doing with an NHL-calibre team in front of him.

I'm trying to figure out what is the team's number one priority in a trade. I am just dumbfounded with this team. 22 goals in 15 games. What would possibly help this team, other than someone like Chara or a monster D-man, or a one man show like Crosby or Ovechkin? None of those part can be trade for. So what does the team go after?

Common sense would suggest you go after a player who is in similar age with your core that you don't currently have (winger with goal scoring ability or defensemen with offensive abilities) but common sense doesn't apply to this organization.

I'd be luke warm on it. (No pun intended) it would suck to give up on Luke after 15 below average games. Especially when he hasn't even been our worst defender. But getting Eberle would be huge.

Schenn - Giroux - Eberle
Hartnell - Lecavalier - Voracek
Hemsky - Couturier - Read
Downie - Hall - Rinaldo

If that team can't score then I don't know what will.

I highly doubt Eberle gets moved but if it revolves around Simmonds/L. Schenn+ I would easily do that every day of the week plus twice on Sundays, unfortunately I don't think Edmonton is that dumb nor is Homer that much of a theif.

I think it's more like

1. Mez

2. Schenn, L
3. Coburn

I don't know why someone would want Meszaros though.

I don't know. I would have no issues doing that.

We all know the defense is on the verge of being reborn/rebuilt anyways.

Yup, our best chances of getting rid of him is being a throw in of a trade. If not that then I would say we're stuck with him for the rest of the year.

If there truly is a deal imminent that is being delayed until after tomorrow's game, won't the healthy scratches be an obvious giveaway?
