How bad is Bishop for Conacher?

Looking at some of the recent trades of say the last 5 years, where does this rank among the worst? It's possible Conacher may not be in the NHL in under 4 years. Meanwhile Bishop has a shot at team USA for Sochi.

How did the Sens scouting screw this one up?

It's funny how much we hated the trade at the time... So glad it happened now..

Although Conacher might be one of those "one year wonder" guys who was a big scorer in the AHL, if Lehner turns out better than Bishop (in all likelihood he will), then the trade does not really harm the Senators. It just so happens to greatly benefit the Lightning but Bishop was pocket change for the Senators.

I still like it

We had to move one of the three goalies and I think Conacher is far from a write off.

They could have gotten more for Bishop though but he probably wouldn't have been able to prove how good he is in Ottawa.

As a fan looking at only the stats: terrible

As a fan who watches Conacher actually play: not that bad

Why would we keep Bishop when we had Vezina quality Anderson and up and coming Lehner? Conacher works harder than anyone on our team and he's currently a victim of being able to play on any line (as someone on the Sens board said). He is always in front of the net screening the goalie, and is reaaallyy good at drawing penalties.

That trade was so bad that Tampa-bay should have been arrested for stealing. Bishop is going to be a stud for the lightning in the future.

Conacher is an nhl caliber player. No question. He's not a top 6er. That's fine.

The deal though is certainly a win for the TBL. No question. In saying that, trades involving goalies are not usually big returns.

I am certain this is not the worst deal of the last 5 years.

I give the award to the Habs. Ryan McD Pavel Valentenko, Doug Jannik and Chris Higgins for Scott Gomez Tom Pyatt and Michael Busto.

Awful

Sens needed to move Bishop and had a limited amount of offers.

Conacher has been good. Maclean just doesn't like him.

Murray wanted a 2nd + 4th, his pro scouts convinced him to get Conacher instead. I think it will end up being an okay deal.

Tampa is glad the trade was made, obviously. Still, Ottawa had three starting caliber goalies, and Bish was the most expendable. Don't think it was a bad move for them, but it was a GREAT move for Tampa. Especially considering our ridonkulous winger depth... Conacher probably would have been moved in the offseason anyway.

Meh I'm pretty high on Conacher, deal is nowhere as lopsided as you think it is.

A little early to write Conacher off, isn't it? Jeez.

Sens bought high on Conacher and sold low on Bishop

Tampa won the trade fairly easily

The only team that should regret this trade is Edmonton.

It's pretty bad. It's not Luke Schenn for JVR bad, but it's pretty bad.

Ottawa turned a 2nd round pick into Conacher. Not bad.

Due to a logjam in net, they couldn't wait for Bishop to develop real value, which was an unknown anyways. They probably got the better guy in Lehner anyways, and at the time Anderson was the best goalie.

Tampa seized a good opportunity.

Edmonton doesn't seem like they want to trade for a goalie. Just draft forwards

Goalies never yield decent value in trades, especially guys with as little NHL experience as Bishop had at the time.

Anyway it's still far too early to judge the trade. I'm not a Conacher fan at all but Bishop needs to keep this up for far longer to start labeling him as a proven #1 goalie.

They bought Bishop lower than they sold him for. And he was sold at proper value due to log jam.

Exactly this. Bishop would've never been able to prove himself and increase his value to what it is and what it will become with Tampa. With Anderson and Lehner in the picture, it was just never going to happen.

One of the goalies needed to go, and Bish was the odd man out. You have to trust that GMBM got the best return for him that he could've in those circumstances.

Wish Bish the absolute best in Tampa. He is a great guy and great teammate.

It's usually hard to see these types of things from outside. Good job.

Every team that has 3 starting goaltenders in the NHL will have to move one fairly quickly, and every week that a deal isn't made, they are probably reassuring one of them that they will be sent somewhere.

I'd turn a 2nd into Cory Conacher today if I had the choice.
