If not the Canucks then SJ with LA and Anaheim as good options as well. (Wife & her family are all in California)

Edit: Probably as a 5-7 physical Dman. I.E. A less ****** Andrew Alberts

I moved to Colorado this summer for the first time. I love it so much because you have enough of the quiet, beautiful & active mountain life, but you also have enough of the fun, big city & melting pot atmosphere as well. Also, snowboarding baby. Going at top speed with nothing between you and nature but a thin board, as close to the heavens as you can get. Love it

Anywhere.

Playing in the NHL is such a rarity that I wouldn't even care.

Habs fan here. My size and play style is very much Josh Gorges. Not a lot of offensive skill, defensive minded, willing to sacrifice the body for blocks and hits, resilient, but can't fight.

Besides the avs. Vancouver Beautiful clean city next to the mountains like Denver where I can snowboard. I can't believe so people would want to play in Florida. I lived there for 5 years and it is hot as hell.
Then retire early with Stanley cup and join HC Davos because Switzerland is my favorite country and it a nice place to live.

NYR or Chicago. Two of my favorite places on the planet.

It's definitely far from "perfect weather" like people seem to think.

Really anywhere. Climate doesn't make a huge difference to me.

Dallas seems like it would be cool. Not a huge hockey town but a pretty loyal following from a good amount of people, so you get your privacy. Nice weather, considering I'd go back to Boston for the Summer, nice city... If there's ever a team in Seattle that'd be my #1, though.

I also really like Maryland, so Washington would be nice.

Even as a die-hard Leafs fan, playing in Toronto would be pretty tough. I'd still do it, given the choice, but outside of that I'd love to play for San Jose, Los Angeles or Anaheim. Lower taxes, get to live in California and play for a competitive team. The SAP Center in particular seems like it'd be such a fun place to play. The only downside I can think of would be the travelling.

Boston or Chicago would be great too. Both seem like great cities and they're original six teams with long, storied histories; competitive, etc.

"hot as hell"

You're telling me that its hot as hell during the winter months in a place where a fraction of the citizens of this country flock to during this time of year?

I picked Tampa as my first choice because of no taxes, Stamkos and playing the winter months in a warmer climate. I chose Florida over Dallas because I have a pure hatred for that franchise now being located in Texas, not Minnesota.

I wonder how many people here understand how much money playing in Florida saves you compared to Canada and several states.

Lower taxes and California are pretty much an oxymoron in the US. Cali has the highest (or at least top 3) tax rate in the country.

More than likely every NHL contract excludes snowboarding and other high-risk sports... especially during the hockey season.

Maybe stick with ping-pong or pool... bowling?

Well if you're a forward, you would have nobody to pass the puck to!

I think anywhere in the league I would go to San Jose. Never been to Sunrise and I was young when I went to TB so maybe would prefer those but SJ would be fantastic.

I am a warm weather, don't need a lot of fame kind of person

- Florida Panthers
- New York Islanders
- Minnesota Wild
- Winnipeg Jets

Homer pick :Toronto

Non homer pick : Montreal

I'm a big city guy, born and raised in Toronto. I have a great appreciation for both hockey markets. Plus I've been to Montreal 5 times in my life and it never gets old. It's a beautiful city.

As a quality defensive defenceman:

Colorado, Edmonton, and Dallas (homer) - More or less promising or/and exciting teams that could also use some defence.

HM: Florida, Phoenix, and Nashville - Southern teams that have their problems. As a former Thrashers-fan would be nice to help them out.

As a quality goaltender:

New York I, Calgary, and Buffalo (homer) - More or less promising teams and the goaltender-situation could be better assuming Miller would be leaving Buffalo.

HM: Edmonton, and Philadelphia - I'd like a challenge.

Lower as compared to playing in Canada, I meant.
