The argument can be made, however, that while Hemsky is the better player, he's also useless after this year since he's a FA. And more and more, it seems the Flyers have to think about next year.
I'd take Schenn over Hemsky all day , everyday.

Schenn is the more valuable of the two , hands down.

Oh, but he is. I wish the Canucks could snag him to put him in a winning environment.

He's weak defensively and is often rendered ineffective.

Oh for sure. I got that. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just expanding and saying there's still one area where its almost impossible to exaggerate his ability

Nope. I like Gagner. Always have. He got the same treatment that Voracek did for years (and that Couturier is now)--guys who break into the NHL so early, put up steady but not spectacular numbers, and then appear to have "plateaued" or "regressed" or whatever--all while some of their draft classmates are still working their way through juniors and the AHL.

Here I do have to disagree. He's actually gotten much better defensively the last couple years. He's been forced into more of a 2 way role, and has done much better than expected

Hemsky can play both wings as he has demonstrated in the past. Ribs Boedker and Hemsky would be an ideal 1st line. From what I have seen of Hemsky he's a shoot first pass second type, no?

I think florida, Edmonton and Philly would make good trading partners. After looking at the trade again, I realize philly is on the loosing end. What should be added?

Oilers make out like bandits, Flyers give up a ton for draft picks they don't need, and the Panthers get Coburn and a bunch of scrap they don't need for players that could net them a more useful return. Bad for everybody but the Oilers.

Don't add to Philly's haul. Remove Couturier.

Wow.

Scoring woes? Play Edmonton. Just what the Flyers needed. I would assume the next big move would be coming from Edmonton soon.

Just for the sake of it, I'd still do Simmonds+ for Eberle.

I hope Oilers trade Eberle for Simmonds so Eberle can be a ppg player with Giroux for years to come, so it can bite them in the butts. Simmonds is awesome don't get me wrong, but unless the + is pretty decent he is no where near the value Eberle has

After what the Flyers witnessed first hand this afternoon they should have no interest in making a deal with Edmonton. There is nothing on that Oilers team that looked better than anything on the Flyers.

Did you watch the Flyers and Oilers just play? The Flyers owned the Oilers. The only time the Oilers had any pressure was on the powerplay or where the Flyers decided to play giveaway in their own zone. The Oilers generated little to nothing on their own. For all that supposed talent they sure don't do much with it.

Except 28 other teams aren't the Oilers...there are players on the Oilers that would fantastic beside Giroux...aka Eberle or on any other team with a defense
