So he's not better than Gretzky after all or what?

The guy has 1.35 PPG for the season so far. That is 110 point pace and he is slumping currently. Few good games and he is back on the 120-130 point pace. I think most of us here on the HF boards are expecting Crosby to be around there 120-130 if he plays healthy season.

I get that he is interesting player and the best player in the world ATM. But we really need to calm down on this Crosby hype.

BTW, has he been scoreless for the past 2 games? Also, is this 6 points in 9 games his worst streak of hockey since 09-10 season beginning?
Zero points in 4 games last spring wasn't too great

Then I'm not sure. But this is the perfect example why pace arguments can be flawed, especially in small sample sizes. If 87 had gotten hurt when he was 2 PPG, all we'd hear was how it would have stayed like that the whole season

Imagine if Giroux slumped like that, he'd get crucified etc.

Or... Crosby is just going through a slump. He wouldn't score against any team with the way he is playing.

Every player goes on cold streaks. It's the reason on-pace numbers are extremely silly. Especially when an injury happens just after a 25 game point streak.

He's obviously over the top. Now he will get surpassed by Stamkos and Getzlaf and become the #3 center for Canada in Sochi. Hell, if Giroux keeps on scoring and let's not also forget the intangibles of Toews, Crosby might not even be in the Olympic roster.

Injuries to wingers and terrible play from line mates.

Let's just see where he is after 82. Probably amongst the scoring leaders somewhere would be my guess.

THese streaks happen even to the best of players. Despite what some of the hardcore sid-fans thought in the previous thread it even happens to Crosby. He'll get back with a few multi point games before you know it.

Typical with Crosby fans. When he's going great he gets all the credit but when he is going bad........... his teammates suck.

This is hardly the first time we've seen Sid snakebit early in the season. Its actually happened a few times before. The team as a whole is playing lousy hockey at the moment...

Exactly. There isn't a single player in the game today with the ability of putting up points and dominating ala Jagr in the 90's.

1)He's playing better teams
2)Dupuis has gotten so bad not even Sid can carry him. He's constantly missing Sid when he's wide open & going offsides on rushes because all he understands is forward.
3)Sid isn't playing his best hockey. He's hitting post when in the past he would have scored & getting stopped on break-a-ways.

Not yet but he's at the same age that Jagr was when he ran off & won a bunch of Art Ross trophies in a row so that is yet to be seen. He's also 10 times a better leader & better defensively.

Ya and Sid can go off on any team too. Didn't the Oilers keep him pointless this season?
