**** off with that ****, because the team let him down.
The 5th goal was beyond week. Other than that though, he played well, still, other than that one horrible goal he lets in every game he plays ok.

Sure, the D coverage was awful on most goals, but when the D coverage is awful it shouldn't always wind up in a goal. We need him to come up with some saves and bail out the D once in a while. Even on that goal where the dude was left all alone.. in my mind that was soft. Then there was the floater... I don't know how you can say he played well this whole game. Give me a break.

Yup. It's the coaching.

Dubnyk honestly played "well" (obviously not according to numbers), but made enough big saves to win the game.

We are getting all of our goals from individual talent or sheer luck. No goal has come from a systemized play.
Goal 1 - Nuge's shot
Goal 2 - Yakupov' shot
Goal 3 - Perron tipping a point shot on a very basic powerplay
Goal 4 - ?!?!

Eakins has just decided to give the other team's Stamkos, Hossa, Kane, Crosby and whoever just shoot right in the slot. That's not a system. I don't know what he's doing. Wreck-It Ralph, I'm pretty sure, pretty much admitted to not having a system and he had less slot shots. What the ****, Eakins?!

Dubnyk isn't as bad as the numbers are showing (at least tonight), but the numbers show bad. You can't deny that. He's not playing to his best, and that's exasperated by the fact we're giving him literally no support.

Be all and end all
We Cannot Score 6 Goals A Game To Win The Game.

I was flipping between The Walking Dead and the Oilers game. It was hard to tell the difference.

This team is on pace to win 17 games this season.

I wonder if they can give the expansion Ottawa teams a run for their money and finish with 10-15 wins this year.

How stupid is Eakins? I mean seriously, you see it game in and game out the horrible breakout plays and turnovers, so why not spend practice after practice after practice working on it to improve it?

Some positives from this one I guess.

But at some point we gotta stop giving 5 goals a game.

Eakins needs to swallow his pride and admit the swarm ain't workin

Hall was all over the ice at the end there. This is the part in the season when he usually starts playing great.

Yak looked very good too.

Yeah, one soft goal

The Hawks could have had 15 goals in tonight's game with how bad the coverage was from the Oilers.

Nitpick about the possibility of overtime all you want, without Dubnyk and this was a laugher, not a 5 - 4 game.

You can't blame Dubnyk for this game, it's this ****ing swarm defence BS.

Now we're stuck with Eakins because we've reached the threshold of coach firing. The one time where's it's the actual coaches fault, we can't fire him. #OilersLuck.

Once everyone is healthy, they should just roll with 18 forwards.

2 wingers per side...

He made more than one big save to bail out the D today..

You've never played goalie, and this is made very apparent right now. My guess is that you look at a score, and that determines the problem areas. 5 goals? Oh, duh, the goalie!

Agreed, Dubnyk has had a terrible season, but other than one soft goal (look at Crawford tonight for soft goals BTW), tonight was in no way his fault. The D, or lack thereof was our downfall. You can't give away the puck 50 times in our own slot, and leave that many people in front. It should have been 10-4.

K guys we need our stars to be better defensively but we still have the offense just need to learn and lock it down a bit better. What we do need is an entirely better defense and we need a new goalie. Lets go changing mact. Nurse will help he is actually the exact mold of guy we need if he actually manages to become a top 2 guy that would go a long way for us.

Dubnyk can't be blamed for 3 goals. 2 of them were with a guy who was left all alone in front of the net. Like literally, no Oilers around that player. The other one was another shot from the slot.

This team has no D. Like seriously, it is absurd how many quality chances we give up. I don't know if Eakins is just this stubborn, but this swarm D **** is not working. It is absolute garbage. Dubnyk is getting no help. We're giving up incredibly good chances to the opposition. Dubnyk fell apart in the second, but before that, he was just getting shelled.

Offense showed some good things this game, scored a few goals. Still though, another loss.

Motto of the Oilers season: "Moral victories are just as good as actual wins".
