Trade Rumors and Proposals XII: Back To Your Regularly Scheduled... OH THE HORROR!

Last one filled up. Here's some posts to get started.

Gagner has been a good soldier, but if you can get Nashville to bite on Josi for Gagner, I'd do it personally. If the Sabres take Ekblad, we're 'stuck' with Reinhart any who.

Josi is a young D-man who has shown the ability to play top-4 minutes well. He has top-pairing potential and he's signed to a team friendly deal. Win-win in my opinion.

The one thing I will give MacT credit for....he knew goaltending was a weakness and when they missed on Fucale they traded down and got additional lottery ticket picks....he then identified Broissoit (oil king connection or not, he has upside) and Chet Pickard and got them both into the organization.

With Bryz, the goaltending future already seems brighter than Friday morning.

Now it's the defenses turn. Time to get bold and take a risk.

Hell, Gagner might be willing to say yes to anything at this point.

When Smid was in the lineup I figured Edmonton needed a top pairing guy and a top 4 guy. Now they need a top pairing guy, a top 4 guy, and a 4-5 guy…

This blue line is in shambles…

We're kind of stuck with him and I really don't even mind...if Ebs is moved out, we'll need a 2nd line RW.

Teams like Nashville or Phoenix that are sound defensively already but need offence are perfect examples of where he would thrive.

Gagner's defensive woes are blown up here because it is already a team weakness.

If Edmonton realistically needs 3 defence man to either be acquired or step up from how they are currently playing come next year. Edmonton is going to struggle again.

No GM in the league can acquire 2 top pairing guys and another top 4 guy in the matter of 10-11 months…

Before Smid was dealt we needed two top 4 guys, now we need 2 top pairing guys and a 4-5 guy. Those defence man are not easy to come by.

@JonathanWillis
Haven't seen an announcement. but Curtis Hamilton isn't listed on #OKCBarons roster or game notes today.
Interesting. I'm told Curtis Hamilton hasn't been demoted to the ECHL.
I'll try and find out more, because this Curtis Hamilton thing is odd. I only see two likely possibilities, if he's not in AHL or ECHL.
I don't have my old game notes but I thought he was listed as a scratch. Don't see him on EDM's roster, either.
Sounds like Curtis Hamilton might be on the roster and playing his first game of the season Friday.

Last I saw, Hamilton was practicing with the Barons a couple of days ago.

Who in the world would want Curtis Hamilton? Unless they're just buying him out or releasing him.

Edmonton is always so quite when it comes to demoting and calling players up. I am sure the Hamilton thing is just either a paper work thing or he is injured.

I checked on the OKC Barons site and his name is not listed on the roster or the stats section of the page. Interesting

Im assuming he has been demoted to the ECHL and the ECHL staff has not put him on the website yet.

Klefbom really needs to elevate his game. I thought for sure he could be up here by January or February on the 3rd pairing....like Brodin.

Also, with the Pickard signing are we back to 49 contracts?

Or did Pickard only get a tryout?

I know on the OKC Barons site if a player is demoted to the ECHL or promoted to NHL you would see an X beside their name indicating they are not with team currently.

AHL/ECHL contract.

I realize I took the attention away from "Screw our word, trade Gagner" to "Whats up with Curtis Hamilton". I should have changed the title to "Things That Interest Only Soli"

Interesting summer coming.

Lots of dead weight off the books (Eager, Jones, Smyth, Schultz).

Wasn't an Oilers employee fired for tweeting Hamilton had been moved in the Horcoff trade?

How has he been playing?

@SportsnetSpec
Calgary's Ladislav Smid expecting more trades in EDM, if losses mount. "MacT isn't going to (mess) around." Story to come.

Tough to say how much insight Smid is going to have considering he was shocked to find out that he himself was traded. Probably just a case of knowing MacT's personality, but no real good "dirt" so to speak.

Regarding the D, I'd pull a Pittsburgh Penguins and go a little crazy in free agency to shore up the D.

Both Ericsson and Giaradi are two players who have shown they can play tough minutes against opposition top lines. Something we sorely sorely lack. If by some miracle they both reach free agency, I'd throw two four year deals at both of them. That gives Hiller(or whoever is our goalie) a top-pairing D to play the Ovie's of the world and not leave them alone in the slot.
