I know that Heatley has a 7.5 cap hit. Bourques is closer to 3.3. Having said that, it's not uncommon this year for a teams to hold on to some cap. Since Heatley will be UFA at season's end and Bourque still has a few more years to his deal at a decent cap hit, it could be an interesting option for the Wild.

Do I want Heatley? I can't lie, I would consider him.

Without making any research I know Heatley is UFA next summer so cap hit isnt really important.

We'd still have to squeeze in his cap hit this year.

Also, he's....not very good at hockey anymore.

MB could use that extra cap space to trade for someone at the deadline. Saying that it isn't really important isn't true.

Poor attitude, overpaid, and I'm not even sure he's a top 6 player anymore. And he can't play defense to save his life. Give me Gionta over him any day of the week. And I'm far from a fan of Gionta.
He isn't. He's found his place as a bottom 6 player in Minnesota now who's at best a PP specialist. Only thing going for him is his shot.

I'd rather go for a guy like Erat than Heatley.

They have playing C/LW when he's been playing RW his whole career, he's playing with Laich and Brouwer who've done jack**** all year and Oates is playing him 13 minutes on average a night. This is practically the Grabovski situation with Carlyle all over again. Best deals are the ones where you buy low.

Erat confirmed that he wants out of Washington and they gave up Forsberg for him!!!

I can see Erat in Montreal, maybe for Bourque, Erat makes $4.5 a year signed one year after this season and Bourque makes $3.3 a year and is signed for two more seasons after this season.

Make it happen! Bourque for Erat.

I seems like fans of Washington wants Brouwer trade as well....

Brouwer + Erat for Bourque + Briere/Gionta ?

It works with the cap, anyone interested?

The only issue with this is Erat will request a trade if he's not playing with Plekanec. Which means either Gionta needs to be traded or Briere gets demoted when he's finally not playing like garbage.

Erat-Plekanec-Gionta
Galchenyuk-Eller-Briere
Patches-DD-Gallagher
Prust-White-Moen

Bournival would be out of the lineup too unless the coaching staff trusts him as the fourth line center.

Washington wouldn't trade for Bourque.. they still hate him over there for what he did to Backstrom two years ago.

DD for Erat

Why trade Bourque at this point...Bourque has always been a streak scorer so if we trade him now he will start and lighted it up...
Bourque is our new whipping boy now??? That is stupid. He has a good track record of scoring goals....much much better than DD

Except, DD has no market value while Bourque ... may still have some. What doesn't make sense is moving Bourque if we're not adding size/physicality somehow.

Just for fun and the sake of having fun trying to make imaginary trades:

First Move:
Gionta + Pateryn + 3rd draft pick to Pittsburgh
for
Simon Després

Second move:
Bring Després up in the NHL

Third Move:
Gorges + Beaulieu + 1st round draft pick to Edmonton
for
Taylor Hall

No way either team considers these trades. Here is my imaginary trade, Briere, Desharnais, Boullion, Parros and White for Crosby.

Oh my God, please, no Erat in Montreal, please no. We don't need another soft 3rd line overpaid scrub. If we're going to add a 3rd line player, make it be something we don't actually have: a Troy Brouwer, Jason Chimera, Steve Downie, Marcus Foligno, Nck Foligno, Andrew Shaw...

Rene Bourque... 5 goals, 1 assists
Martin Erat.... 0 goals, 6 assists.

On a team that already has trouble scoring some games, no thanks.

Martin Erat is a way better 2 way player then Bourque, he could be used on the pk or pp. I think it would be a fair trade, and if i was Bergy i would do it in a heart beat. Common we all know Bourque has barely any trade value, and we would get him off our books for next year!!
