Anyone got a bit of scouting on the Jets this year? Haven't seen or heard much.

As of late, chase the puck carrier down very quickly. Little line is always dangerous and by far their top line. If they get down a few goals they don't stop and have fought back in games. Pavs was shaky but since Montoya played 2 in a row he has been real solid.

Awful PP, I mean horrendous. They take a lot of penalties as well. Soft and not very physical at all.

They remind me a lot of how we looked under Lavy when we were playing well, seem to have more success when they play a wide open game as opposed to trying to lock it down defensively.

Few guys that got the big contracts ( Bogo and Wheeler ) are below expectations, but Little has been most consistent player by far. Improving on the draw also where they lacked as a team.

Most shocking things about this post:

1) There are 101 things to do in Winnipeg

2) Well...that's it really

I thought the most fun thing to do in Winnipeg was to walk outside, yell **** its cold!!, and go back inside and drink.

You think that is bad, Google where I live. Emo Ontario. Yes there is a town with that name. I'm over 4 hours from a city. My town generously lists our population at 1400. I'm back home to take care of my failing mom and dad but trust me this won't be longterm. Last year we had a week of -40. A whole stinking week.

I'm surprised they listed hockey that far down the chart. They must have a randomizer.

Cabela's is pretty awesome, at least the one in pa is.

Canada always seems huge land wise but I always forget you can only live in like the bottom 3rd or something due to the cold.

I would imagine people say the same about Philly, I can't drive to work without seeing a good amount of crackheads.

Every game right now is a big game until they prove they're really rebounding and not a fluke or something. Hoping for the best here.

There's always sitting inside, looking out the window, saying "@$%^& it looks cold!!" and resuming drinking.

My best Winnipeg-ish (~100 km west) story is, on our drive across Canada in 1976, we stopped at CFB Shilo early in the morning to see their military museum. The museum wasn't open, but when we said we had to be leaving to continue our trip, the guard at the gate handed my dad the keys and told us to lock up when we were done. Our family of four had the whole place to ourselves for about 30 minutes. To a 10-year-old, that was awesome.

Hey MSE kind of random but since it's pretty much confirmed Pronger is done is it necessary to keep him in your IR list? It seems like clutter in an otherwise great GDT.

I do. I was born way too far south. If it's warmer than 70 degrees outside I feel like I'm in an oven.

Yep. Mid-Atlantic humidity, can't stand it. DC area sucks, Philly's not that much better. I need to live somewhere where I can count on outdoor ice in the winter.

November 18, 2005 -- Greg de Vries scored on a breakaway 3:05 into OT lifting Atlanta to a 6-5 win at Philadelphia. The Thrashers scored two PPGs in the final 1:50 of regulation on goals by Peter Bondra and Patrick Stefan, the former coming on a 6-on-3 man advantage and the latter coming with seven seconds to play. Prior to the tying goal, a possible penalty was not called as Simon Gagne attempted to score into the empty net. Afterwards, Gagne said "I had a great chance to score a goal and maybe put the game away. I had a couple of sticks in my skate, and I'm pretty sure I got held." Ilya Kovalchuk (2-3-5) scored two PPGs in the first period with Donald Brashear in the box both times. Kovalchuk took nine shots, six in the opening period. Atlanta led 3-1 after the opening period and held a 17-8 shots advantage. The Flyers out-scored the Thrashers 4-0 in the second period and held a 16-7 shots advanatge. Gagne had 10 shots including seven in the second period. Kovalchuk was issued a double minor with just under eight minutes left but the Flyers failed to score. Earlier in the third period, R.J. Umberger was stopped on a penalty shot. Atlanta went 4-for-10 on the PP, while the Flyers were 2-for-6. Michael Garnett made 31 saves for the win. Robert Esche made 30 saves in the loss and said later "There are so many screw-ups out there. I don't know what is going on. No clue. The only way to truly kill a penalty is not to get in the box. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot." Branko Radivojevic (2-1-3) scored twice but was in the box for Atlanta's fourth goal. Derian Hatcher was also assessed a hooking minor late in regulation which led to the tying goal but he said later "By no means did I hook him. My stick was on the ice. He lost the puck. He stopped."

Kovalchuk scored 2 PPG, both on one timers that were absolute bombs. Refs screwed the Flyers that game though. Crazy game.
I remember this! This was the one and only game I've seen the Flyers live in Philly. Great memories, too bad they lost.
