Can someone change the OP to "Dylan"? My OCD's kicking in.

As for Lefebvre, if anyone was wondering, the Panthers were only at 48 contracts so they weren't in dire need of the Hawks to take him too. I doubt he amounts to much of anything though. He's never played an NHL game and was part of the Parros trade in the summer.

He got injured(groin) halfway through 11-12 and when he got back, he started playing dumb and selfish. I don't think it had much to do with the injury though, he just decided to be stupid.

We just wanted to get rid of Lefebvre. He's an absolute nothing.

There's a team that wants to win another cup.
Some times I wonder what the Pens history would look like if Bowman never left the organization.

To me it seems like a win-win for both sides

Fits each team's needs

I'm surprised they ate 50% for 3 seasons for that crappy return.

Wrong!

Dylan Olsen was actually benched last season for the Rockford Icehogs.

Bust & Bust.

Just a reminder of two of Dale Tallon's other first round gems:

Jack Skille and Kyle Beach

Weird how Panthers fans are calling Versteeg crap who tries to do to much and turns it over at the blueline when Huberdeau is like the same player with brutal turnovers and stupidity but he is the future star player.

Slow would be a compliment. Brent Sopel skated faster.

Pretty decent trade for both. Florida is banking on those two prospects picking up a little. Chicago gets good depth scoring at a nice price. Lefebvre just fills in a little lost depth in the Chicago org.

Not that weird at all...

Huberdeau is a 20 year old just learning how the league works, and is very malleable.

Kris Versteeg is 27 and already exiting his prime, and as they say, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

Dale Tallon loves his former first round draft picks: Jack Skille and Dylan Olsen. I'm surprised Dale Tallon did not pick up Kyle Beach on waivers.

Wow. @2.2M cap hit per season for Chicago, that's a freaking steal. Thats just as good as Hossa's contract, isn't it? I wish Chicago's GM would come to Edmonton.

27 is the exit for a players prime? Don't tell Leafs fans that, Kessel just hit his prime at 26.

I don't think the Hawks have re-upped Bowman yet if that gives you any hope?

Interesting trade.

Hayes is a solid player, but he's not fast enough to keep up with the Hawks transition game. Versteeg is just a slightly more mobile version of him.

That said, StanBow and company need to focus on drafting D in the next few years. With Stanton waived and off to Vancouver (and playing pretty well... grumble grumble brookbank), and now Olsen gone, we need more D prospects in the pipeline, cause Rosi is going to keel over at any moment.

A point I haven't seen made yet is this gives the Hawks some of the speed they lost from last season with Stalberg and Frolik leaving. A big part of the Hawks success last season was the 3rd and 4th line who used their speed to forecheck and create turnovers. The players who have replaced them at 3RW and 4RW - Smith, Morin, Hayes, and recently Sheldon Brookbank the 7th d-man, don't provide that level of speed and forechecking effectiveness. Versteeg does. Putting Versteeg at 3RW makes that 3rd line more effective and harder to play against. Adding Versteeg as a 3rd line depth player who can play anywhere up and down the lineup and on special teams makes the Hawks a better team.

A good move for the Hawks. Well done Stan.

Brian Campbell was not horrible, just his contract was.

This just in ... the Chicago Blackhawks won another Stanley Cup without Brian Campbell and with Johnny Oduya.

27 is usually the prime for a player on average - around there at least.

And admittedly I may be a little pessimist here, but watching Versteeg's play lately (this season and last), while limited, it appears he is on decline.
Again, that may just be pessimistic and negative, and frankly I hope he proves me wrong, but either way, my point stands, and him and his gameplay are entirely different beasts than Huberbeau's.

Bowman is signed through 17-18.

Since Florida is eating half of Versteeg's salary for the duration of his contract, does that mean both the cap hit and the actual dollars he'll earn? So Florida pays half of his actual salary in addition to taking half the cap hit, right?

Seriously?

You need to revisit all the defensemen the Chicago Blackhawks have drafted in the second round since 2010:

EDM guy might be sad to hear that but I'm a happy human because of it.

I would guess that is the case but really I have no clue as to the particulars, I'm sure someone on this board can't wait to show off their knowledge on the subject and will fill us in on it.
