*Proposal* Your Young D man for #5

The Habs would love to get their hands on Jack Johnson, but by the look of things, he'll be long gone before the Habs pick at #5. We need to get a good young D Man in our system. What Young D man would you be willing to give up for the #5 pick?

Good young D-man in your system, what about Komasarek or Hainsey?

Komasarek is the only good young D man that we have right now. The jury is still out on Hainsey, and after that, the cupboards are pretty bare.

Kevin Klein(poor man's Suter, but had a terrific rookie year in the AHL), the 18th pick...and...Timofei Shishkanov or Konstantin Glazachev

for the 5th?

Would Grebeshkov get that done, or would we need to throw in a second?

Make it Weber and the 18th and I'll take it!
(no harm in asking)

I always cringe, waiting for someone to counter with Weber

honestly, i think he's a LITTLE overrated...but not to Nashville fans, simply because we haven't had a defenseman in his mold...so we can't really afford to trade him. Klein could be a dark-horse to crack the Habs lineup if they let Brisebois and Rivet go...and at worse, he could shoulder some big minutes in Hamilton. He started out weakly in the AHL, but by the end of the season, he was rock solid and won the "most improved" award. Great at both ends of the ice.

damn it keep the pick... If ever Johnson slips to #5? (It's a possibility) There's also Pouliot and Brule that might end up available at the #5 overall.

In all seriousness...would a deal centered around Eaton+ interest you? He's one of the most underrated, rock-solid guys in the league...he's dirt cheap...and he's fallen out of graces with the Preds because he signed to play with the Griffins during the lockout. He'd be a great partner to help a young guy like Komisarek along...and like I said in the original proposal...I wouldn't mind throwing in something.

How's this, I'll go for a homerun:

Upshall(Penciled in for a possible spot in Nashville this year, so he's likely NHL ready), Mark Eaton...and our first...

for the fifth overall.

If Gainey had received that kind of offer from Nashville and would still be waiting to pull the trigger, he should be run out of town quickly.

We trade down and draft someone like Bourdon or Parents, AND we get Upshall and Eaton... for what? A pick that we won in the lotto? Man I'd take it and run.

Upshall will be great.. Similar to Higgins IMO.

I'm a big fan of Upshall. I haven't seen Eaton much since he left Philly, and I didn't remember him being that great defensively, but I'll take your word for it. I'm so high on Upshall though that I'd probably do it.

Eaton emerged in his last two seasons in Nashville as a great defenseman. He enabled us to trade Skrastins, and has really surpassed Karlis. I hate to see him go, but apparently management really soured on him, and this trade enables Nashville to move up to grab the center with first line potential they desperately need(hopefully Kopitar)

I think this would be pretty hard to turn down. I'd do it.

Woywitka and the 25th for the 5th?

Nah, that's probably not enough to get you to bite.

It doesn't do it for me. I'd rather have the upside of a guy like Ryan or Brule over Woywitka and a late 1st pick. I think the draft has Crosby and then a drop and then 5 guys and then another drop. In order to drop out of the top 6 you are going to have to pay a large price.

Raffi + 2nd round pick for #5
