Desharnais - Erat

How would Washington fans feel about this? Both could use a change of scenery and Desharnais would give some scoring depth as the third line C/PP.

Erat would play with either Eller or Plekanec on one of our top 3 lines and would allow us to move one of Brière, Galchenyuk or Bournival back to center on the 3rd line.

Bourque could also be had for Erat, but considering his history with Washington, I doubt they'd want him near their team.

I might grudgingly pass on even this from the Habs' POV. Not because I want or value Desharnais. But I wouldn't really want Erat either. If it's just taking a higher cap hit instead of a longer one, well, maybe there's an advantage to argue about there, but then Desharnais seems to be liked and fits well in the room at least, Erat who knows based on his last couple stops. At least with Desharnais' size and lack of production we can rest assured no other team will want him either, no matter the offsetting dump involved. So it's probably a moot point. Just even without that, I don't think I want somebody else's headache. Ditto with the Booth offers. I'd probably just stick with the devil I know.

I still think if the Caps wanted someone like Desharnais they would have just kept Perreault. I'm sure DD is a good player but probably not the piece we are looking for.
