no, this way his last year of eligibility for it. Unfortunately he got left off, but it was a tough roster to crack with only 15 forwards getting invites.

Azevedo had a ton of skill but his size and speed was an issue. If Azevedo was around 5'11 and 180 by the time he was 20, he'd be in the NHL right now.
I wasn't saying anything about size.

Ok, Peter Sarno

Extremely hard, when you're taking the best under 20 from the entire country.

Just look at the last two drafts and the best Canadian forwards from those 2 drafts. Even if half are in the NHL, still small odds.

So no value in looking at the no invite as any metric on what he is?

I'd say the takeaway is there are at least 15 Canadian forwards the same age who are better (more appropriate for team building). If you add in the NHL Canadians the same age who were not made available ...

I'm not saying he's next on the list but we could pretend he just missed making the team, same with Finn.

Max Domi should have been there for sure, would have liked to seen Connor Brown get an invite at the very least.

I know you let Sondre Olden go, but I was surprised today when I saw he was leading the Norwegian Elite League in points total. Just for info..

didn't like letting olden go, although NEL is nowhere near AHL and i suspect SHL, although it would be great to see him play there for comparison. he had a lot of raw skills and would probably take 1-3 more years than a regular prospect to develop.

also, cherry 100% right as usual. brown, domi and nurse should have gotten invites. domi seems like he might have attitude problems, but this isn't big brother; if he helps us win gold, that's all that counts.

A little bit of an update:

Blacker has 3 goals, 3 assists in 7 games with Norfolk since the trade. Perhaps Spott should have given him a real chance?

It's not a great league and Olden is a terrible skater. Not losing sleep.

He turned 21 in August, Marlies have 25 year olds still considered prospects.

He may not be finished as far as the NHL goes, but he was pretty thin for his height. Joe Colborne just this year looks like he's physically mature enough to play in the NHL, and he'll be 24 in January.

NHL scouts got a good look at Olden when he played in Erie and declined to bite when he re-entered the draft. No one denies his nice puck skills. They just don't project him to higher levels of hockey.

Domi has struggled this year, but you do see that often when players have a good NHL training camp and go back to junior. Cherry's point was that they should be looking at a players resume when selecting and not a small sample size. Can't say I disagree. Just cant see how Domi, Nurse, Finn or Brown shouldn't be at getting a real close look for that team.

Who would've thought?

Give a talented young guy a chance, and show some confidence in him, and watch him grow.

while you seem to have a point, brown did well last year as well getting more than a point a game. so his history is 2 seasons prior of doing well and he's not just performing well this year, he is at the top of the entire league.

I always liked Blacker, but i don't see him ever being better than Peter Holland.
At least it shouldn't turn into a fleecing against. XD

I still think blacker was a throw in to even out contracts, Holland for a 3rd/2nd

Holzer would have been a throw in... Blacker is a decent prospect.

Don't be so sure, there's a 2nd rd pick also if Holland plays 25 games. Holland has not shown much up until now. Another Nonis forward so far Soft, Soft, Soft which we are already over loaded.
