Holland was not working for us. He is at the end of his ELC. He will be waiver eligible next year. He would be taken if we tried to move him to Norfolk next year. This is a win/win for sure. Both teams get the outcome they were hoping for.

i think this trade is a win-win for both teams. we only gave up a 3rd and a 7th for him. the only way nonis lets the 3rd become a 2nd is if holland plays lights out in the next 20 or so games and surpasses bozak as the first line center. if he doesn't, he then plays out the season with the Marlies and the ducks get the 3rd rd pick.

Jesse Blacker wasn't going anywhere in our organization, so kinda happy we got something for him. also, maybe holland will flourish with toronto when given top line minutes. I mean look at Lupul. He was playing on Anaheim's 4th line when they traded him to us. Now he's one of our best wingers. There's really good potential for Holland to do something special here in the 25 game time frame. Hope it works out.

Holland sucks. Career AHLer. Glad Murray traded him while he could.

Lots of holes to fill next season in Anaheim with Koivu, Selanne, Winnik, and maybe Penner out at the end. Holland could've filled a bottom 6 spot.

Koivu is currently our #3C, ducks have a few players to replace selanne with, UFA can replace Winnik and I would assume penner will want to re-up with us showing how much he loves playing here and how him Getzlaf and Perry are great friends.

With anaheims depth right now in every position, they'll be fine.

With Hiller off the books and all the FA we could make a move for a free agent or simply resign our own.

No, just no. Holland sucks. He's a career AHLer. The Ducks have plenty of prospects to fill those spots if the Ducks don't resign them.

What is your reasoning behind ths? I think, if anything, Anaheim won this. Holland and Blacker cancel each other out. Then it bcomes Staubitz for a 3rd, potentinally 2nd, and a 7th. However, if Anaheim gets a 2nd, then that means Holland has exceeded our expectations. Again, to me this would be a win/win situation for both teams.

I don't think people realize how useless Holland is.

Would you, by any chance, describe him as a career AHLer?

Useless. He looked bad in every game with the Ducks. I've wanted to trade him for a long time, it was just a matter or when. I was hoping for a 2nd round pick.

I'm just hoping that somehow instant chemistry develops between JVR, Kessl and him. However, there probably won't be time as Kadri will be back after the next game, and Bozak is also due back soon I believe. If Holland doesn't pan out, I at least hope that Kadri gets a legitimate shot with them.

We'll just see how good he turns out, because I remember Ducks fans claiming Lupul was useless as well.

I think he could play third line if we don't resign Bolland.

I never once claimed Lupul was useless. Carlyle misused him.

Holland will most likely stick around as the Leafs #2c for quite some time.

He has the skills just needs some work. Anaheim didn't trade him because he is garbage, they felt that Rakell and Bonino surpassed him.

Holland wouldn't stick around in the AHL, hes to good for that. He also isn't a bottom 6 player, which is only where the Ducks could fit him. Trade makes sense.

If the value is off in the end, it will probably just be made up for in the next Toronto/Anaheim trade.

Career AHLer at age 22? No, just no. Guys like Andy McDonald, Francois Beauchemin, Chris Kunitz, and Sheldon Brookbank didn't become established NHLers until their mid-20s.

It's one thing to say that there isn't a spot on the team and it's a different thing to say he sucks and is a career AHL player. Holland still has a chance to be a good NHL player.

Talent.

Getzlaf and Koivu were both out and Holland didn't even dress. Holland had his chance, and he didn't impress, see comments by Boudreau and Murray.
