I'm thinking about applying the wax to the entire blade next time.

I've only been applying it to the bottom half of both sides.

I'm thinking about ordering PF wax if I hear more good things about it. Kinda hard to get my hands on stick wax in Taiwan anyway, might as well as go for something good.

Took it for a spin in the backyard yesterday and it did lose tackiness quite a bit in the cold (-5C). Will check at the rink today.

Best wax I've used

I got the starter pack a couple weeks ago and gave it a try. My tape lasted much longer and the wax also didn't freeze up like some other ones that I've used.
After I saw jeremy's video and the video from Hockeytutorial.com, I decided to get the full size containers of the base and the Max control waxes cuz I like the tacky feel it provides. Definitely worth giving it a shot.

What is the benefit to use stick wax? Never even thought about using it until seeing this thread.

Main purpose of wax is to keep snow from building up on the blade. Some waxes are sticky and some folks like that.

I waxed two sticks for last week's game, one with paraffin and one with Mr Zog's. Didn't cake the wax on and melted it in with a heat gun. Really couldn't tell the difference between them.

Maybe next week I'll do what I used to do, which was really cake the wax on, then melt it in with a heat gun, then do another layer on top of that.

Just got done playing in a tournament this past weekend and I didn't have to change my tape at all. Very little snow build up cuz I put proformance base on with the max control. I only reapplied the max control once so I could get some extra tack for my last game. When I got the full size containers, I was surprised at how much wax comes in the containers. One container should definitely last me for more than a month and I play 3-4 times per week.

I use the Ice Wax stick. Seems to do its job fairly well.

I found I really need to put a thick layer on. Snow still builds up on areas where the wax is a bit thin.

Do you guys put the wax on directly before a practice/game, or the night before/couple of hours before?

I am just wondering if it matters when you do it.

I apply it a couple of hours before a game. It seems to dry up and lose its tackiness over time.

I never used wax when I played, but I've been putting it on my sons tape. it makes it more durable for sure, not having to re-tape for every game.
