no tade clauses

I don't mind the canadians resigning markov, diaz and whoever, but can we not give ntc because when the player under produces and other teams can still be interested our hands are tied for ex plekanec and gionta.

Contract negotiations are a two way street. How much more money would you like to pay in exchange for no ntcs?

And the reason that the team has not traded Plekanec and Gionta is nothing to do with them having (limited) no trade clauses.

Yeah, one they want to keep and the other no one wants.

I'd give them LNTC, but that's it. For Diaz, anyways. If Markov takes a pay cut, then give him a full NTC.

It's a show of respect for vet players. Especially career Habs like Plekanec and Markov deserve at least LNTCs.

On the other hand giving a full NTC to Briere was pretty ridiculous considering the money he is already making.

No trade clauses aren't exactly "I'm never moving for the length of this contract" agreements despite the name implying so.

Most of the time its an agreement between management and the player that management can't blindside a player by saying he's traded.

If a player learns from his GM that he is to be traded, they usually won't block the team from doing so, unless it's a city/team they don't want to go to.

So while full value won't be obtained, the team's hands aren't exactly tied.

Charles Manson had a no tate clause, and it turned out bad. Not sure about no tade though.
