Buff - STL

To Buffalo:
Halak, 2014 1st, 2014 2nd and a prospect not named Allen, Jaskin or Rattie (plenty of good ones to choose from)

To the Blues:
Miller

Rip away

The Blues still have Edmonton's 2014 2nd (around 35?), so they can afford to do this.

Are the Sabres retaining any salary on Miller?

Should otherwise I don't think we would be giving up Halak, 1st, 2nd, AND a decent prospect for full salary Miller and wouldn't have the salary for it either.

Am I missing something of which Miller is worth so much more than Halak? I thought they were about equal

I think the Blues would be cup favorites with Miller. I would start with Halak, 1st and 2nd and throw in a mid prospect if needed

Miller is a great #1

Halak is a very good #1A, but he needs a #1B.

He would wilt with Miller's workload.

is Tarasenko still a prospect

But really, this is a good deal.

Anyway Jaden Schwartz is available?

Sabres will want a young top 6 guy

Halak, Schwartz and a 2nd for Miller and conditional 2nd if Miller doesn't resign

Neither of them are prospects, both are on our 2nd line.

Schwartz is not available. Halak + 1st + 2nd and a decent prospect

Blues take it easy as long as it stays 1st, 2nd +Halak, and Buffalo retains half Miller's salary.

I think Halak + 1st + 2nd is too much. Maybe if they sent something back along with Miller might help, I don't know what they could but yeah. That's a pretty big overpayment.

Halak + 2nd 2014 + 2nd 2015 for Miller

Buffalo can then either keep Halak with Enroth or trade him for another pick at the deadline.

If you had your choice or Rattie or Jaskin, would you do it?

Not even close. Schwartz isn't available, and even if he was traded, it certainly wouldn't be for a UFA to be goalie.

Tough call. Probably Jaskin. I like the bigger, physical forwards. Rattie is the sniper and Jaskin is the power forward. Huge ceilings for both imo.

Sorry, but that's horrible for the Blues.

I prefer Rattie, Buffalo is in need of a scorer, young top 6 guy or potential. The only other prospect that are "available" to you that interests me is Carrier.

To your original deal, and will say this trade happens tomorrow so you get more games out of Miller.

Miller

for

Halak, 1st 14, Rattie (this removes your 2nd)

Buffalo then flips Halak to Nashville

If we deal Halak, a 1st and a 2nd, Buffalo HAS to eat 50% of Miller's salary. Otherwise it's a no go.

Miller isn't getting Halak, Rattie and a first.

I like Ryan Miller and I'll admit he's an upgrade on Halak.

He's not enough of an upgrade where I'd consider moving Schwartz, Tarasenko, Rattie, Jaskin, or Allen.

If they want the 1st + Halak + another prospect or maybe another pick (and are keeping some salary) ok fine. But the difference isn't big enough to include one of those pieces.
