@DStrehleTFP: Talked to a few people at WPG - #Flyers game at WFC Friday, many felt Evander Kane or Dustin Byfuglien would be perfect fits in O & B.

Kane would be too perfect anyway on Giroux's line. I'm sure his cost would be a bit too steep.

I wouldn't be at all surprised about Buff. Eklund does talk a lot of bs, but he has consistently linked the Flyers with Buff over the past 8 or 9 months. I get the sense a trade may be coming soon.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't Kane a very similar player to JVR? Maybe even with worse hands but more physical than JVR? And don't get me wrong, I'd love to have JVR back but there were a lot of detractors when he was here. Now, correct me if I'm wrong 'cause I probably am.

Kane is very very fast and shifty. JVR is a power forward with 1 move.

As far as what I've seen from both, Kane is the better pure shooter while JVR is better in tight around the net. Kane would give Giroux the legit sniper that he needs to be successful as a playmaker. I would certainly entertain a deal around the Schenn brothers for him, but I'm not sure that would get the Jets to bite. Kane was supposed to be their franchise player and the face of their offense. I can't see them giving up on him this early or easy.

They don't want LSchenn. They already have three RHD better than him.

I'd love Evander Kane on the team. My fear is that Brayden Schenn develops into something really great if he is moved. I've seen flashes of brilliance (along with flashes of putrid play, but expected for a young guy.)

Probably, but Kane is a special talent of the same age. Schenn hasn't seemed comfortable at wing, so there is still a long-term organizational glut there. If that's the core of the swap, you have to make it.

The above proposal--two Schenns, 1st, and 2nd, is an easy yes IMO for both Kane and Buff--though I'm not sure how it would work cap-wise. I can't see WPG being interested though.

Coburn + Simmonds + would make a lot more sense for them, I believe.

LSchenn could be involved if they were moving Bogo or Buff, of course.

I think they are pretty happy with Paul Postma as well though.

Sure, why not? Get it done, Homer.

edit: Though, looking at the Jets proposal again, I don't think they would like that.

I would trade B. Schenn, Coburn, Simmonds, & our 2014 first round pick for Kane, Byfuglien, & a pick or prospect at the draft depending how the rest of the year shakes out.

I wouldn't trade Coburn as part of a Byfuglien deal. I would want those two to be the lead pairing playing 23 minutes a night. Grossmann is who they should be looking to move as him and LSchenn are too similar.

I like Gross and Schenn but I agree the two of them are kind of redundant on our team. Upgrading speed on the blue line would be a great thing. Is Byfuglien quick? I know he's huge but I never really paid attention to his speed.

Buff can fly. He's not as agile as a guy like Coburn, but his top-end speed is impressive for a player of his size.

At this point, I'd put a pure offensive forward on D just to upgrade it back there.
