Haven't seen it yet, but I wonder if players and coaches are more careful now after seeing how Bryzgalov got demonized because of the show. Two years ago, he went from "he's a quirky, hysterical guy" to "he really might be a complete lunatic" just over the course of the series.
There are no personalities that will draw a crowd or maintain interest. While Babcock is well spoken, FAR too much time was spent on him. Same with Carlyle.
The highlights were the Wings small group dinner and the Lupul fight. Unfortunately, that took up only about 5 minutes of the entire episode.
I think it's good to get coach intros out of the way in the first episode, then cover some "catch you up on some stories" stories...like Alfredsson on a new team, Datsyuk and his injury, Lupul and his injury(ies), Clarkson signing and Phaneuf's famous wife and dirty hit.
I'm really surprised more wasn't talked about with Kessel and Zetterberg, but i hope this proves as a bit of a launching pad for Datsyuk, he's still extremely underrated to casual/non-fans. Great personality too...but he's close friends with Bryz, I wonder if he'll avoid the interviews.
