Not sure if this was discussed yet, but I was listening to Elliot Friedman on the Melnick show the other day and he mentioned that he recently did a podcast with Mike Vernon who said that way back when, Roy was having dinner and they were in the same restaurant.
Roy called Vernon over and proceeded to tell him how hard ti was playing in Montreal, all the attention and pressure, etc. Vernon told Roy that he felt the same way when he played in Calgary (he was from Calgary) and that things got so much better and easier when he moved on to to other clubs.
The night in question was the night Roy played Detroit, let in 10 goals and stormed off the ice.
I find it fascinating really, like imagine a reality where Vernon never talked to Roy, he may never have demanded a trade that night... Vernon truly planted the seeds of Roy's thought process... crazy.
