Gallagher's net work has been a part of their revival and he did get 4 SOG tonight, but he definitely is a third wheel on that line and I wouldn't mind bringing back EGG now that Pacioretty is in form.

Eller's not been effective offensively at all but he had a pretty good game, but he's not going to carry Prust offensively.

Seriously guys, did I really need a disclaimer that I was making reference to a certain poster who is nowhere to be seen right now?

It's often said that it's the backup's #1 job to BE that positive guy all. the. time. It's important to get results when you're called on, of course (in Budaj's case, entirely on the road, scheduled with Price's rest in mind), but I believe some commentator touched on that recently. He also added the simple confidence boost a backup can give by being the first guy to practice and the last guy to leave, and to be vocally supportive of the #1. Guys like Budaj make it easier for the guys in front of him to play without concern for adjusting their game or second guessing to "compensate", or whatever.

It was a thing of beauty seeing him lose his composure against Pleks.

And Subban working him over was awesome. Great way to end the winless streak at home against Sid and the boy.

Briere with 2 big bodied players as well in an offensive role than on the 4th line.

Pacioretty Desharnais Gallagher
Bournival Plekanec Gionta
Galchenyuk Eller Briere
Moen White Prust
I would keep Briere with Pleks and Gio, they're playing well together for now. I would replace Prust with Bourni tho, that line could be magic

Subban played a near perfect complete game tonight.

Moved the puck well out of his own zone, skated it out when he had the room, didn't try to force anything, played Crosby tight and physically and of course was his usual dangerous self on the PP.

And he had some PK time too! I hope Therrien gives him a pat on the back beacuse I assume this is what he wants from PK.

Shhhhh....don't tell anyone....but Subban has been on the final minute of a game 2 nights in a row....Therrien needs to do something about that. Terrible coaching.

I hope Gionta keeps playing like this. He seems to have given up his trademark flipping the puck at the goalie to get a faceoff move. He looks more like the Gionta from a few years back.

I think that's a good observation. Both vets got to play with perhaps better players than they normally would, though, so it's a nice bone to be able to chuck them I guess. Tactically or "over the long term" you're probably right.

Therrien ... should have been 82 games in a row.

Pens are a pretty entitled team that has to be hard for any opponent to respect much, I thought, after that one. Such whiners. It would be fun for any team to knock them out in a playoff upset.

I always forget how distasteful that team is until I see how they respond to adversary. Great talent but it's really in their heads.

It starts with Crosby, the man is a legend and an all time great but he shows no respect to most of the league.

I kinda wonder how Bournival would do with Patches. They are both fast. Could be scary on the rush.

Well Briere was playing on the 4th line in the 3rd and Moen was out with Plekanec and Gionta for some reason.

That's why I said move him up to the 3rd line. He started off the game with Plekanec and Gionta though.

Pacioretty Desharnais Gallagher
Briere Plekanec Gionta
Galchenyuk Eller Bournival
Moen White Prust

That works as well like you mentioned.

Honestly, I'm about to write a petition to confiscate your privileges ASAP.

No way such stupidity should be linked with Habs moderating.

You know what, I bet they could even make use of Desharnais on that line, or maybe even Briere... minds could be blown.

Solid game, 60 minute effort. Held Crosby to zero points in 23 minutes of ice time.
