Kulemin? Reilly? Raymond? Gardiner? Do you even watch the Leafs?
Agree with Raymond and Rielly being faster but I think he'd edge Kulie and Gardiner. So 4th fastest on what is considered a quick skating team. JVR seems to have found a higher gear this season, he's looked downright dominant on numerous occasions. The answer is still Kane though.
Based on their play this season, it's close, as JVR has proven to be an effective goal scorer, and Kane has seriously been a disappointment for me this season. He started out hot, but has looked terrible ever since the first couple of weeks of the season. He's far too predictable.
With that said, he has a ton of upside, and is a natural goal scorer. I can definitely see him being a regular 80-90 point player in a few years. Reminds me of Kessel in regards to his offensive game. Like Kane is now, Phil was sort of a one trick pony when he was 22, and was really streaky/inconsistent, but the progression he's made over the years makes me think that Kane has still yet to really break-out in this league. He's gonna be an absolute force IMO, so I'd also take him over JVR, going forward.
Gotta say I am surprised with this poll, I expected it to be really close. Kane is younger and has insane raw skill, speed and size. JVR has mitts of gold, speed and the size too. They both are players who give glimpses of their potential and wow us all but for what ever reason they were both unable to put it all together as fast as many expected. However for whatever reason JVR seemed to stagnate in Philly and has looked to be on the developmental path since the move to the Leafs that many in Philly expected years ago. Kane seems to be up and down in the Peg, I hope he doesn't take as long as JVR to find his game because I really enjoy watching players like E.Kane and JVR when they are on their game.
