HFBoards Ranks: The best player to ever wear #29

A series of polls charting which is the best player to wear each number. Some rules for the players selected in each poll:

- Any players listed under the number on hockey-reference.com are eligible.
- A player must have worn the number for at least five years to be eligible for that number (although if they're better known by another number they'll come under that - ie Ray Bourque will be in the #77 poll, not #7).
- We'll only do one poll poll number so the series doesn't go on for years.
Players so far:

Note: Due to incomplete polling options (#1, #2, #3, #5, #6) and dishonest polling options (#19), the previous six numbers will be re-polled at a later date.

#1: Jacques Plante/Terry Sawchuk (tie), 37.60%
#2: Doug Harvey, 54.55%
#3: Pierre Pilote, 42.45%
#4: Bobby Orr, 87.77%
#5: Nicklas Lidstrom, 74.19%
#6: Phil Housley, 46.85%
#7: Phil Esposito, 37.00%
#8: Alex Ovechkin, 49.57%
#9: Gordie Howe, 75.92%
#10: Guy Lafleur, 47.58%
#11: Mark Messier, 83.53%
#12: Adam Oates, 29.14%
#13: Mats Sundin, 52.03%
#14: Brendan Shanahan, 48.70%
#15: Milt Schmidt, 55.83%
#16: Bobby Clarke, 34.72%
#17: Jari Kurri, 69.94%
#18: Denis Savard, 55.13%
#19: Joe Sakic, 30.82%
#20: Luc Robitaille, 65.38%
#21: Stan Mikita, 48.77%
#22: Mike Bossy, 90.72%
#23: Bob Gainey, 60.65%
#24: Chris Chelios, 81.28%
#25: Joe Nieuwendyk, 46.41%
#26: Peter Stastny, 48.88%
#27: Scott Niedermayer, 49.24%
#28: Steve Larmer, 45.45%

List of players wearing #29 is available here: http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv...umber=29&year= and here: http://www.azhockey.com/shirts/shirts29.html

Note: Big thanks go to spiny norman and TheDevilMadeMe for their sources for numbers.

The poll will run for one day.

Dryden by miles. Yes he retired at 31, and only played seven full seasons (taking one year off because of a contract dispute and going to law school during that year), but in those 7 seasons:

5-time All Star Game participant
6-time All Star Team (5 1st, 1 2nd)
5-time Vezina Trophy winner
6-time Stanley Cup winner
Conn Smythe trophy winner in 1971
Calder trophy in 1972
.838 winning percentage over 397 NHL games (258 wins, 74 ties, 57 losses, counting ties as 1/2 of a win and 1/2 of a loss), 2.24 GAA, 46 shutouts

Oh, and in 81 collegiate starts at Cornell, Dryden has a ridiculous .950 winning percentage. Also, in the season Dryden sat out, the Habs gave up 56 more goals that year.

The next one, #30, should also be AINEC likewise.

#30 is filled with great goaltenders. I know who you talking about and he'll get my vote but it will be much tighter.
