When grubs stops playing solid. Holtby did look rather bored/agitated on the bench yesterday at one point. I bet he plays lights out when he does get his chance again.. He better.

I think Oates rides the hot goalie way to hard , same last season i think Neuvirth should have had more games so Holtby was fresh going in to the playoffs he played greate the few chanses he got.

So

Erat
Orlov
Neuvirth

soon to be Holtby

Urbom potentially

We should start a poll on how many OCDOates can break by the end of the year. Over/under on half the roster?

I hope they do not trade Urbom, he will be better than Erskine soon if he isn't already. Erskine's fighter role has been significantly diminished since Tom Wilson decided he wants to fight at least once a game.

Erskine is slower than Scott. The Sabres got it right, they use their goon on the 4th line... Caps use their goon to PK.

Looks like Spezza and Phillips are out. let's get the points and get the hell out of there.
4-2 Caps!

Tx, everything is graet, everyone is exactly where they should be. Let's forget Orlov situation... I wonder if he'd still be in the minors if his agent didn't muddy the waters.

Why does Oates continue to play the square peg in the round hole game with Erat? When a player struggles as much as he has you don't think it makes sense to give him a few games at his natural position?

And looking at how Orlov played his first 60 games. And the list of player that was in his way for playing time. There is no way he should have gone that without a real shot.

Even Eric Fehr was missed used for way to long.

I am not saying any of them are blowing up the world with there play. If a player if going to fail he should first be put in his best position to succeed.

In this case I don't mind. They need to see how real Gruby is, how consistent he can be. Besides, as long as he is playing like this, it's not really controversial to keep him playing. If you put Holtby in and he has a good game, then you have things to figure it out..

Erat, since he was dicked around and not brought in to be our 3C.

Orlov, to the point where the organization relented and let him play.

Zero reason for Erskine to be in the lineup over Urbom.

Neuvirth may be the only one, even then that was a massively idiotic contract extension by McPhee. Everyone saw this coming with him.

Urbom gets benched less than a period after Gandlers comments. This was no random occurrence.

A minor gaffe we see dmen make almost every game. Vets too. Like Urbom was the problem with our team. I remember seeing the goal and thinking that got him benched?

Gandler forced GM who forced Oates to open a slot for him.

Schmidt should be playing over Erskine, not Urbom. Urbom hasn't shown much to suggest he's worth investing in. Erskine hasn't been as bad since he returned (not saying much) but an Erskine/Oleksy pairing has never made sense. It's much too slow of a D pair, particularly considering the team's GM has fawned over Chicago's blueline. But, of course, the Erskine extension never made much sense either regardless of however well he was playing at the time.

Couldn't agree more here. With the goalie situation we have now it's only reasonable to keep playing Gruby and see just how long he can keep it up. While I'm all for trading Neuvy at this point, it's easy to forget that if Holtby or Gruby was to go down with an injury, we would be stuck with either one as our starter and Leggio as our backup

Better be safe than sorry and give him some more time to show that he can maintain some good play at the NHL level, before shipping out the otherwise only option we have.

Urbom is more of a stay at home guy than Schmidt, has size, is mobile, good positionally and plays physical (even if he doesn't hit much). He could potentially develop into a very good stay at home mid pairing LD with a decent outlet pass and shot. We have no one else in the organization with that upside so it's definitely worth pursuing.

Schmidt could refine his game in Hershey some more and is waiver eligible. Urbom isn't. Schmidt's been adequate but hasn't forced his way onto the roster. Ultimately I'd be fine with a Schmidt-Urbom pairing but given we have OCDoates as coach Urbom-Olesky would probably be the best 3rd pairing we could get. Urbom's mobility and defensive awareness is needed on that pairing.

I really wanted Urbom at the draft so I could be biased though.
