Yup. Montreal is not as cold as the west... But it snows like MAD. The coasts really get the most snow.

Just be happy were not in siberia.

Find me a rule book that compares the two. I think driving in wet conditions with 0 treads on your tires, at racing speeds is clearly more dangerous.
ummm...you do know that even F1 cars have rain tires right?

I did...but that's only because I have them on rims. I don't know too many people who have that tire machine thingy unless you are a mechanic.

I have them on rims too, but I still have them installed professionally. Something about balancing the wheels, or straightening them?

What?! Professional car repairmen ripping me off by suggesting needless procedures that only THEY can perform in exchange of money?

Impossible, sir. You have a dirty mind.

You keep drawing this moronic notion that a safe driving attitude is some sort of alternative to winter tires. You need BOTH
Hate to tell you, but new 4 seasons are every bit as good as snows
and by extension
new 4 seasons are better than worn snows

I've passed a million kilometers a few years back and have been to every corner of eastern canada.

All that to ask you one question: when was the last time you saw someone drive on pure summer tires? those are the dangerous ones!

another thing to make you go hhmmmmm
ever stop to think of what the tourists that drive up here in the winter do? thats right !! they drive on whatever tires they use back home!
THE SCOFFLAWS!!!

That's extreme ******** if I ever heard some. 4 season tires are designed to be average in most circumstances. They are not specialized to deal with extreme snowy circumstances.

Let's agree to disagree cuz I'm guessing you're off your meds
Anyone who sees a need to swear in a disscusion about winter and snow tires must have some kind of pre-exisiting condition.
But you never did answer me about the scofflaws

Weather Network has revised their forecast for the 37th time. Now forecasting about 10cm during the night and pretty much all rain tomorrow starting in the morning.Looks like it will be a slushy one.

I'd be swearing if I heard someone actually arguing about how it's safe to toast bread while you are in the bathtub.

Every experts I have researched clearly state that 4-season tires are NOT appropriate for emergency manoeuvers during winter conditions. You are basically saying arguments that could endanger people's lives if they believed you. That's irresponsible.

Luckily, the Quebec government is going to force people to have certified winter tires as early as next year, so ignorant people like yourself can't endanger their fellow citizens by driving with innapropriate tires.
