Vintage MTL jersey

Hey, guys.... I picked up the jersey from the 100th anniv. It's the red one with the leaf on it and the green. Who should I put on it? I was thinking a player from when they were actually used. Should I use a current player or...?

Merci.

Koivu crossed my mind. Markov is pretty good too. Say I choose between those two, which would you choose?

Was going to suggest Gomez, but anyway.

In all seriousness, the thing I struggle with on the vintage unis is that back in the day there weren't any names, just numbers, so I always cringe a little when I see a Richard #9 or a Beliveau #4 as I'm reasonably sure neither man actually wore his name on the back as an active player.

So I'd put #4 (but no name) on the jersey for Newsy Lalonde who was a good player who would have actually worn that red/green jersey when the team used it. Enough people might figure it's for Beliveau and there's no dishonor in that.

If you want to go current at least pick a player who would have worn it in the Centennial year: Price, Kovalev, Markov, Koivu. If I see a 'vintage' jersey with Briere or Prust on it I might saunter over and projectile vomit on it until it was officially ruined.

Alternatively you could go for Gomez but get the barber pole jersey; as the saying goes all the women will want to be with you and all the men will want to be like you.

Dislike Gomez severely. for when I go get it numbered and(maybe) lettered, what is the correct font and number color/outlines so the place I go to gets it right? I highly doubt they've seen this sort of jersey before.

Also thanks for the help and comments everyone. Definitely helping me decide!

Link for a Pouliot game-worn centennial jersey showing the numbers and letters on the back, font looks fairly standard.

I have a soft spot for captain courage. If you care about it being a current player that actually played when these were used, then go for Markov. If not, I'd go for Koivu.

Since its the Jersey thats lovingly called the canadian tire jersey for its color scheme; there's only one name that you can put on the back:
ALBERT

No-brainer. Put your name on it. Unless, of course, you are a teenage girl. In that case, it is fine to have someone else's.

Haha what? I got an own jersey for my birthday 4 years ago. I'm liking the suggestions so far. I'm a Markov fan, but really liking the Vezina and Lalonde ones!

Alright, sooooo... between Markov, Lalonde, and Vezina. If I get Vezina, am I correct in that he was #38? I see it in the image above. Can't find pictures of the number and don't want to be wrong when I send it in.
