Yikes. Thought Tropp would pan out as a solid bottom sixer.

Not liking the Nolan connection to D'Agostini.

I don't mind the connection honestly....I woulda sent down Flynn before possibly losing an asset though.

Looks like the Buckster is being given access now that Regier and Rolston/Ruff are gone.

Flynn lost his waiver-exemption unfortunately.

Is it really a bad thing that we brought in a waiver wire player possibly because the coach has connections with him? It has essentially no bearing on the course of the team.

I don't see why not, unless Kaleta is going to come back up at some point.

Pens fan here, Dags has a good release on his shot but you won't ever really notice him like 90% of the time hes on the ice

He had a 20 goal / 40 point season once... so there's that...

He's been around the block. Strikes me as the kind of player they may stick with Grigorenko at some point (a bottom-six player with some skill).

He sucks. Invisible bottom six forward with no defense or possession value who can score if kept away from relevant defensive players, but keeps getting pushed even further down the lineup because he's so streaky and better players come along.

He'll be an upgrade on Adam, that's about it.

Matt D'Agostini will wear #27 for the #Sabres.

On the wing of David Backes, where he had no place actually being.

Sounds like most Sabre forwards.

Situation and ToI slanted in his favor.

He's filler.

Yep. Situational scorer. He's Boyes but worse.

Did you dislike the Boughner connection the last time Ted was coach here? Would have to say that worked out ok.

He's going to get that here... at least that's my impression of how Nolan will use someone he "knows"

hmmm.. which is it?

I have no expectations... I can honestly say I have no opinion/recollection of Dags as a player, I really don't... he's a name to me right now....so I'm not going to fluff up a "this is stupid, he sucks" opinion for the sake of mouth breathing...

im sure there are a lot of experts on Matt Dagostini here... I'll let them speak

Could be. He's filler for now and even on a bad day is better than Tropp in his own zone. It'll be interesting to see how he is used.

agreed.
and I hope they look for more moves like this...

It's funny that there are people who are all ZOMGed out over Tropp being waived...

Oh no, they waived the least talented waiver eligible player in the organization and picked up a young vet who has been around the block...

more please...

I was half expecting them to put in a claim on Klesla so they could send Sulzer back down to help the Amerks for similar reasons. They have too many guys who have struggled on the backend to not look at improving the middle pairing even if it just gets them some limited return through more consistency. Having cap space available makes them one of the few potential shoppers on the waiver wire.

I used to be a huge fan of Klesla, traded for him every year in the video games. Wouldn't have been the least bit upset if they claimed him. He wouldn't have won us any more games, and I'd rather see him out there than Sulzer.

Called the Tropp waiving two days ago, your welcome.

Not surprised.

Surprised to see someone brought in, though.
