Ducks shopping the 2nd overall pick

From TSN: (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=131498)

What it will take to Gainey to grab Jack Johnson ?

I think that Burke's looking for a vet like Saku Koivu to help Lupul, Getzlaf and etc.

Your proposal ?

Edit: Oups, just saw the same thread on the General board. You can close this one if you want to.

Anaheim willing to trade #2 pick

Anaheim willing to trade #2 pick, according to TSN.ca - does anybody here think Mr.Gainey might try a trade proposal and land Jack Johnson?

I'd be interested to see if he could pump out a deal that allows us to keep our 5th pick as well bring in the #2!

Yes, I know, I'm dreaming... but Johnson and Ryan!!

You don't trade Koivu to move up 3 spots in a deep draft.

I'm willing to package 5th overall + Plekanec in the deal.

If you trade a establish player as Koivu or Zednik, I personnaly think that we don't have to trade our first round pick but maybe our second round pick.

some of you are considering moving koivu? what's wrong with you people... we have nothing to replace him with... doesn't make sense, at all

and for us to get the 2nd, it would be for the 5th and a top prospect

I think that we have to keep all the defensive depth that we can right now, therefore, 5th and Plekanec at most and even that might be overpaying, I think that we should just keep the 5th, fill defensive holes through FA, and stock up on defensive prospects in the subsequent rounds.

Zednik and Hainsey for the 2nd, trade the 5th to Vancouver for the 10th plus something else, and then come out of the draft with Johnson and or Staal/Bourdon.
Zednik clutch my balls, Dagenais could've put away Kovalev's rebounds in Game 7 against the Bruins, he's a good player but easily replaced.

Jack Johnson...

If we move with Anaheim, it's only to get Jack Jiohnson... and it's a really good reason... He's, IMO, the best player available after Crosby... And with the bunch of forward prospects we have, we need a defenseman... We must trade with Anaheim... and we are in very good position to do this...

My first offer:

1st pick + Plecanek/Hainsey/Hossa + 3rd pick

Well burky wants an established NHL player....i say we should just trade Zednik and Plekanec for the 2nd pick. Id say Zednik is established NHL player and has the potential to get 60 + pts especially in new NHL. Plus we all know that without koivu zednik is nothing, so wat happen if koivu get injured again this season, id rather deal him. Plus we can fill this hole easily in the UFA department.

If anahiem does accept this trade i say we pick johnson and brule with our picks!!...omg our prospect pool would be sick

just to move up 3 spots?

who is to say this guy is a sure shot?

Its a crapshoot with players this age.
I think we see lots of players who get drafted who are going to do all these wonderful things and after a few years we know these guys are not going to be the end all of everything.

And why not, it might not be everybody's opinion but I think we need a great young potential stud on the blue line more than anything. Yes we need a PF, yes we need a big center but JJ is my pick. Plus he is Crosby best friend and would be another good reason for him to sign with MTL in 7 years. And all that at the cost of Plekanec that I believe don't have a spot on the Habs and same with Hossa/Hainsey, yes I'm willing to do it also. I would'nt be ready to deal Zednik or Koivu but I would go with a solid offer and if i doesn't work, then take whats left witch will be very good.

Komisarek will be our "stud" on the Blue Line.
(lets all hope)

I hear ya about the need along the Line but I'm not into giving up alot to move up 3 spots in order to pick an 18 year old kid.

We could offer:

To the Ducks: Zednik, Hossa and a 2nd round
To the habs: First round pick

The Ducks need LW player so...

This is the right moment to get in big center (Thornton style) via free agency and rebuilt our team in a better way. Ribeiro and Koivu in the same team doesn't make sense and I'm sure that Saku's value is better than Ribs.

Boivin wants a Cup before 2009 and what a better way to build a team around and big 3 like Komisarek/Markov/Johnson ?

I'd consider moving Zednik and our 5th for the 2nd overall in this draft...I think the opportunity to draft Jack Johnson who I think is definately the 2nd best overall player in this draft (followed closely by Brule) is hard to pass up on...

It's a bold move, but I think Johnson will be ready sooner rather than later...it's pretty much a vote of confidence for one of the young wingers on the team (Perezhogin, Hossa, Higgins, Plekanec) to grab a spot.

I don't necessarily think we should do this move, I don't even know if it's nearly enough...but I would consider it...

then again, Zednik is a pretty good player for the salary he commands, he's adequate on a 1st line, but would make an ideal 2nd line player...

I'd do this. I don't think the Ducks would, though.

As for giving up something significant to go from 5th to 2nd, I don't like it. The 5th pick could end up being just as explosive as the 2nd, so I see no reason to compromise this season to upgrade.

The Ducks won't do a deal unless they are getting a first round pick. I fully belive that Philadelphia will come up with a great offer to select Bobby Ryan at the #2 spot.
