That's about the best we'd get out of that trade, and that's why it's probably not going to happen with them. BTW, that C prospect will probably be De Haan.

Wasn't Franson top 10 in scoring for defenseman last year?

Is there a report from someone credible?

You know. Someone who is not a mouthpiece for his cousin's team?

Isles fans should stop. Liles would fit nicely and he would take some of the pressure of Amac.

Yes because you can never have enough 5-10-6'0, nonphysical blueliners: Viz , Hickey , AMac, Donovan, De Haan.

And if you find another on a multi yr contract that is hard to swallow....even better.

Amac is over worked and Hickey is terrible. Donovan and De Haan belong in the minors. Liles is a stop gap because that's all they know how to do.

No, L iles is Toronto's unmoveable albatross contract.

Oh , for the good old pre- salary cap days, when bad contracts like Liles could be brushed off by a deep pocketed team( sarcasm)

After watching them struggle to move the puck from their back-end tonight, I can see it making some sense. Have to think that gets better when they get some of their hurt guys back, but they were getting hemmed in bad in their own zone, something I have noticed lately when watching them for chunks of games, but really pronounced when I watched a full Isles game because they were playing the Wings.

They don't get a whole lot of help from there backend as much as people like to make fun of Liles he does bring that element.

I don't think anyone is making fun of Liles by saying no thanks to 3 yrs at roughly $4m per .

And Dreger is a step above Eklund as far as credibility, after the Luongo/Vancouver trade discussions and the Kadri/Franson extension talks.

I would find this rumor more credible, if it originated with LeBrun/McKenzie/Staple/Friedman.

With all the guys out in Toronto's lineup, I'd rather see Liles playing right now. D is so pitiful we could use a vet like him. I'm not saying I'm against trading him, but I'd like to see him play tmrw.

Honestly, Liles is going to take off wherever he ends up playing. His being dropped off the roster had very little to do with his skill or abilities.

Liles nhl totals this season have him only one goal behind Streit .

I don't think the move should happen until after the new coach is brought in. You know Liles could be the big splash trade to get everyone excited. The coach and Liles could be announced at the same press conference. (Then we only have to put out coffee and donuts once) money saver.

I would take Liles at 50%, and I would give up at most a 5th regardless of salary retention.

Come on. JML is still an NHL defenseman who struggled mightily with the Leafs after having a very good season for them. If the Islanders can get him at 50% for practically nothing it would be a good deal. What's the risk at this point?

Something to think about.

Is that stuff legal north of the border too? In Colorado and some other American states you can use it for both medicinal and recreational purposes.

Mckenzie was far more guilty for The Luongo silliness than Dreger. And, Friedman was pretty sill too.

They are all just journalists trying to boast their ratings.

Staple doesn't do that because he doesn't have that agenda. He is just a beat guy.

Oh... Well then. Still, I can see that being the trade if it happens, because De Haan has disappointed thus far. It's not like he's your best defensive prospect, he's probably not even top 5. If he came to us, he'd probably be #4 at the most.

He has? Yes his injuries had set him back but his play has not been disappointing.
