good to see Alexei is snipin it up over there! I still think he's going to be HUGE (litteraly too) for the Oilers in the next couple of years. I mean if he comes over next year, i think he has a good shot at a top six spot and as well a shot at the Calder.

edit:
Sibir is Super league right? Think he'll be able to make it to the Elite league and put up some numbers there? Anybody?

Why oh why isn't what looks like a Russian version of Eric Daze playing over here? I really hope they commit to bringing him over, no sense wasting your first-round pick in Russia if it's at all possible to avoid it. Hope he gets a shot eventually.

Wow! This guy really impressed me at camp as one of the younger guys who I had never heard of... he looked like he could turn in to something, and if this continues he could turn in to a hot prospect for us.

yep, University of Denver:
http://denverpioneers.ocsn.com/sport...r_glenn00.html

from the season prospectus:
GOALTENDING
Berkhoel takes over as Denver’s No. 1 goaltender after splitting time the past three seasons with Dubielewicz. The veteran netminder led the Pioneers with 12 wins and a 2.30 goals against average last season. Berkhoel also posted three of Denver’s six shutouts, including a 4-0 win over NCAA runner-up New Hampshire which gave the Pioneers their ninth Denver Cup title.

Berkhoel enters this season ranked among the career leaders at Denver in saves percentage (second), goals against average (fourth) and shutouts (sixth). Gwozdecky knows he has a dominant goaltender who can win games by himself. “It’s always difficult to replace an All-American goaltender,” Gwozdecky said. “However, we are very confident that Berkhoel is up for the challenge and ready to be one of our team leaders.”

Fisher comes to Denver after two stellar seasons at Fort Saskatchewan of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He is a very athletic goalie who will play as a freshman. Fisher was also a 2002 fifth round draft pick of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. Junior Chris Ellis will serve as the team’s third goaltender once again this season.

“Adam is looking forward to the opportunity to help and work with Glenn,” Gwozdecky said. “This will allow us to develop the same kind of strength we have had in goal here the past four years. Once again, we are very fortunate to have two premier goaltenders who are going to give us an opportunity to win every game we play.”

Wouldn't it be great if Fisher turned out to be our version of Ryan Miller? Hey, it could happen Miller was a 5th round pick.

umm..... I must be confused then because I thought the Elite league was the highest and the super league was below that, then the upper league (or something like that).

Yep, if he can come over next year - him, Izzy, and MOreau would give us one of the biggest toughest left sides in the NHL!

Anybody notice all the soldiers watching the game in the background? Is that the red army team? the logo looks close - but I'm not sure.

The Elite League is the highest level in the Swedish League, whereas the Super League is the highest level in the Russian League.

Kind of like in soccer, where the English league is called the Premiere League. Those Europeans with their crazy names. :p

For those interested... Moose Jaw lost to Prince Albert tonight, 5-3, but Kyle Brodziak put up 2 goals and an assist. He's now tied with linemate Tomas Fleischmann for the lead in WHL scoring with 14 points in 6 games. The other player on that line, Troy Brouwer, is next with 11.

Also, Jacques played tonight - didn't get any points, but did get in a fight.

Oh, and Jonas Almtorp got 2 goals in his game.

Check the top of the thread for future updates.

Seachd...

Niinimaki got an assist off a goal by Erkki Rajamäki... He's up to 5 pts in 8 games playing on the third line I think. Not too bad all things considered.

Brodziak
6-6-8-14pts-0

Geez if he keeps this up through the entire seaon and doesn't get injured he'll end up with 120+ pts. I would agree with his preseason play. He was very noticable during the bears game. That's a pretty good find at the 7th round.

That's what thought. I forget where I read it, but He was supposed to come over for camp, but he was told by the team that if he went he wouldn't be the first line center - and now he's not anyways - I'm a little disapointed, but the point production is there for the minutes I'm sure he's getting....

It depends. He may be the 3rd line centre, but he could be getting lots of pp/pk time. If anyone knows for sure, let us know.

No I don't think his coming over is the reason why he's being pegged for third line duties. I'm not sure what happened in regards to the situation... Either way, he's doing well.
