Is the internal cap hurting the team?

I see a lot of *****ing about Eugene and his tight pockets but I'm not convinced it's had as negative an impact as many seem to believe.

My question is, if Murray was allowed to spend more then which moves would you have wanted to see him make over the past 12-18 months?

Simple. I would've wanted Alfredsson to be offered a fair deal after honouring that last year of his contract.

Hindsight's pointless though, so right now I'd just like to see him not being too cheap to call up some of the Bingo boys who are playing great.
I'd also like to see him shopping around for a veteran top 4 defenceman which this team desperately needs.

So yeah, the internal cap is definitely hurting the team.

Add Brian Campbell and a possesion winger for Spezza... This team looks significantly better .

Karlsson pushing the puck for 25 minutes and then Cambell for another 25... Be a killer transition team

I would like him to get a defenseman but we'll obviously have to give up talent to bring someone in. Are there good deals available? I think this team is being built to contend with good cap flexibility and it would be Pointless to try to accelerate now.

Free agents want long term deals and that's not good for rebuilding teams. Trades cost you assets which always carries risk. The draft is the key to success and I think we've seen way too many teams get burned with bad contracts on July 1st to risk entering bidding wars and overpaying/extending.

Is the team hurt in the short term? I'd say yes but 2-3 years from now I think we'll be happy with the outcome.

Letting Gonchar go to Dallas was not because of the budget. And we can see how well he's playing this season.

If it weren't for Melnyk's budget, the game today wouldn't be different from any other game.

i don't mind if we don't sign free agents, but if the budget prevents us from signing our own players, or offering a player like Ryan what he's worth, then I will be sad.

Its definitely hurting the team. In our division, I'm pretty sure most teams don't have an internal cap, so BM has to try to squeeze every penny to put a team together.

We can't even make a call-up or a trade that doesn't require equal salary to go the other way. Of course it's hurting the team.

Of course it is. We could have signed absolute studs like Clarkson, Clowe, and Weiss in the offseason. One of these guys could have put us over the top.

Yeah, it'd be nice to be able to spend money to fill a need. We got the money the summer to get Ryan, be nice to spend money this season to get a Keith Yandle or Brian Campbell.

Yes because of Alfredsson.

Believed to be 50 million. The Sens are currently spending 51 million real dollars and Melnyk has already stated that the team is "over budget".

It has been suggested that he uses the revenue and credit from the team to prop up his other enterprises . A partner might not go for that.
