Peter Luukko has resigned as president of Comcast Spectacor (Dave Scott interim pres)

An updated article with quotes:

http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-phil...cast-spectacor

Quote:
In a statement, Luukko said, “I want to thank Ed for the opportunities that he has given me to help build Comcast-Spectacor over the past 25 years.

“We have had a wonderful partnership, building a great company with a terrific management team. Now, I have decided that it is time for me to take advantage of the equity I have built up at Comcast-Spectacor and pursue other entrepreneurial interests.”

No one has been named to replace Luukko as Flyers president, and this is where it gets sticky. Luukko always was and remains a hockey guy. Luukko is visibly active in every hockey move the Flyers make through general manager Paul Holmgren. How that plays out remains to be seen. Who becomes Flyers president? For now, no one. Snider will handle Luukko’s duties.

“I’m going to have to step in at this point and do the things that have to be done at my end but that’s no different than it’s been,” Snider said.

“Peter has been there helping me in all this stuff and I asked him to step in as president. But we have Shawn Tilger who runs the business end and Paul who runs the hockey end.”

Quote:
Peter A. Luukko is out as president and chief operating officer of Comcast-Spectacor, where he was viewed by many as the man who would one day replace Ed Snider as chairman of the Philadelphia sports and entertainment company.

Comcast-Spectacor, parent company for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Wells Fargo Center, released a statement Monday in which it said Luukko has resigned.

Luukko was the guy who oversaw Comcast-Spectacor’s day-to-day operations and was responsible for creating new business opportunities in the fields where the company competes — namely facility management, sports ownership and operation, and food and concessions.

Dated information on interim president Dave Scott:

http://corporate.comcast.com/news-in.../david-a-scott

Quote:
David A. Scott retired from the company effective July 1, 2013 after 20 years with Comcast.

David A. Scott has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Comcast Cable since 2005, with responsibility for the Company’s financial planning and strategy, accounting, procurement and executive project management organization (EPMO), as well as oversight for the legal group. During this time Comcast acquired approximately 5 million new customers and launched Comcast Digital Voice and Business Services.

Wonder why? This really did come out of nowhere. He was just giving an interview about the Rogers/NHL deal the other day.

I hope everyone steps down. Everyone. From the CEO to the janitors. We need a fresh perspective everywhere. They need new cameras as well, for more fresh perspective.

Some linen fresh glade deodorizer next to Hartnell's locker stall would also freshen things up

Does this actually effect the Flyers in any way? Will anyone notice anything different at all?

He's probably moving to AEG. Flyers West.

The thing I'll miss most about him is awkwardly sitting on the stage at a press conference and never bring asked a question by anyone, ever. That guy knows how to sit-and-look-pretty with the best of them.

I wouldn't term it a cosmetic change. There was the sense that he could ultimately be the successor to Ed Snider and he maintained an active and visible role with the organization. The position itself changed over time. The Flyers had a team president named Bob Butera in the 1980s, prior to Jay Snider, he resigned and went to the Devils' organization. Then Jay came aboard. Changes happen. Nothing lasts forever even cold November Rain.

Hearing from Sam C./Broadstbull that he was bought out...? Flyers organization seems to be saying this is coming out of left field, however.

I'm going to guess he's going to something bigger/better or there is some sort of scandal. What that is I don't know, but typically these things don't happen because a guy gets bored.
