Ever since his 2001 playofs, Stevens regressed even further. He is still consistant and a leader but gets blown by rather easily these days. I find him not much better then Chris Chelios at this point in both careers.
Niedermayer is good, but I prefer Sergei Zubov, thank you very much.
WOW what a load of crap, Stevens as the 2nd best dmen all playoffs only behind Niedermayer, he shut down Lecavalier's line, Thornton's line, Hossa's line, and Kariya's line. I am willing to bet you didn't even watch the guy play, nobody blew by him in the playoffs. Vs Carolina two years ago he had a bad playoffs and Cole made it by him a couple times but every player has a bad year.
Comments like that give you the reputation you have on this site.
1.) Chris Pronger/Al MacInnis
2.) Rob Blake/Adam Foote
3.) Sergei Zubov/Teppo Numminen
3.) Scott Stevens/Scott Niedermayer
5.) Ed Jovonavski/Mattias Ohlund
6.) Jaroslav Modry/Mattias Norstrom
THere are my picks and from those picks where I rank them.
I think Lidstrom is by far the best, but the Pronger/MacInnis duo is better than Lidstrom/Hatcher. I just do not like Hatcher, and even though he had a great year last year, he showed me again in the playoffs why I do not like him as a player.
Niklas Lidstrom/Derian Hatcher or Chris Pronger/Al MacInnis?
I'll take Lidstrom & Hatcher. MacInnis started to show his age a touch last season. Besides Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the league, although a healthy Pronger can match him, I don't feel Pronger's wirst will ever be the same again
Wade Redden/Zdeno Chara or Rob Blake/Adam Foote?
Blake & Footer by a massive margin. Redden is a good smart defenseman - a lowercast #1 man, I believe he overacheived offensivly last year, but still a solid guy. Chara is overrated, but not bad. Foote, if you ask me, is a top 3 - 5 defenseman in this league, and Blake aint too far behind Foote.
Sergei Zubov/Teppo Numminen or Tomas Kaberle/Bryan McCabe?
This is a gimme, the Dallas pair by a large margin. Zubov blows Kaberle out of the water, and even last year's Numminen was better than two years' ago McCabe.
Scott Stevens/Scott Niedermayer or Janne Niinimaa/Roman Hamrlik?
Stevens & Niedermayer, while they aren't actually a pairing, I like a lot more. Hammer and Niinimaa are nice and all, but 6 Stanley Cup rings for the Devils duo says something. Leadership factor for Stevens cannot be ignored here.
Sergei Gonchar/Brendan Witt or Ed Jovonavski/Mattias Ohlund?
I don't think I'm a homer to suggest Ohlund/Jovanovski (that's the way it'll be, Jovo plays right side, although he's left handed) is better here. While I think Gonchar is better than Ohlund, Witt is not really all that close to Ohlund at all, and I feel Jovanovski is better than Gonchar.
Sandis Ozolisnh/Keith Carney or Jaroslav Modry/Mattias Norstrom?
Carney/Ozo in a walk. Never liked Modry, never will. He's a giveaway queen. Ozo is better offensivly & defensivly than Modry. As for Carney versus Norstrom, both are pretty good, but Norstrom showed some signs of difficulty last year, and a total lack of offense hurts him. Carney prooved himself last year to be amongst the top defensemen in the league.
That's all folks.. please rank them from best to worst afterwards.
