IMO, this guy is a plug and a waste of a contract.

Would have much rathered a high end university player, but we never end up getting the best guys anyways.
The high end university guys have 30 teams after them and they have a 1 in 10 or 15 chance of being a player.

The AHL and ECHL are littered with big name university FA's.

I'm sure the Habs go after those guys too, but there are not a lot of good ones to begin with.

In the 70s the Habs drafted another scrub 241 out of 245 and his favourite team was also one of our arch rivals, the Bruins. He went on to instill fear in opponents and turned out to be a good hockey player and a Bruins hater on top of it. I'm talking about Chris Nilan.

I like what I read from this kid in that article.

Lots of players have been waived through a junior league or not been wanted and ended up as productive NHLers. Guys like Giroux Clowe T.McGinn A.MacDonald etc I'm somebody with a lot of time can find 15-20 more.

Why would he get outmatched physically at 6'2" 215-220lbs at the next level?

I have no problem with you having an opinion, you are just grasping at straws on some of them.

Bottom line, this guy has assets that might make him an NHLer and all he cost was a contract so very low risk.
It's the Q I wouldn't go on offensive points, I know a guy from Newfoundland who put up like 102 points one year and he can't skate, I can skate better then him

To me, the only thing this signing means is that Dumont is done with the Habs.

No big deal.

Ironically when I checked the numbers, he'd be around 33rd overall with 30 points in all 3 CHL leagues, not sure what you mean by that?

Good thing we didn't draft Clowe, he can't skate and has never put up 102 points in the Q.

I don't see the link?

They play different positions.

Dumont may still be done, but I don't see any relation.

Dumont is under contract for next season and I don't think waivers will be an issue so he should have at least one more year with the Habs.

You may very well be right. But my guess is Habs' management will prefer to turn the page. Plenty of young players are coming.

That goose was overcooked the minute he got exposed to waivers and no one claimed him.

Nevins won't be a canadidate for the Habs for a couple years, by then Dumont will either have made it or not.

Doesn't it strike anyone as a little odd that these big guys playing tough won't take their helmets off and fight the fair fight. Maybe you have to have Actually fought in your life and protected friends that couldn't protect themselves to understand what a bully/coward is.

Which reminded me to take a look at Antoine Laganière statline for this year, presumably in the AHL.

No, he was not invited to the 2013 Habs rookie camp...I don't know if he was at the post-draft evaluation but I doubt it.

Ouch.

NCAA FA's rarely pan out... who was the best one, Bozak?

I believe Adam Oates was one of the best out of college FA signings ever, one player like him makes scouting them a great idea.
