Took BPA so they didn't go wrong at all. However, Kulikov + Jones to go along with EJ, Barrie, Elliott in the future
That's a very good defensive core, but it's not as special pairing MacKinnon with Duchene, Landeskog, Stastny and O'Reilly up front. Personally I'm pretty sure the avs would've picked Barkov with the second pick whether the panthers offered kulikov, guds or hubs alongside the pick because this team has the chance to do something special up front with 3 real high quality scoring lines.
Considering this is from random talk radio in Quebec, it's safe to assume this is BS.
Dan and Ray are quite close to Patrick Roy and it is not in their habits to report insider info. Therefore I have no reason not to beleive them.
It is not a situation like when Tvasport started their hockey talk show and reported tons of ******** rumors just to get notoriety and viewers... Ray and Dan pretty much have the monopoly of sports on radio in Québec's market.
Well, good that they did not do the trade. Florida got the better player and kept Kulikov.
MacKinnon has 6 more points in 2 less games, while playing a minute less per game on the PP than Barkov. Barkov is definitely better than him defensively, but I would hardly say he's the better player right now and I have a hard time seeing it in the future. MacKinnon is just starting to take off and he's going to be scary good very soon.
25games into his NHL career and he is already easily better than Tavares, Hall, Nuge and Yak? Guys who have been in the league longer and most who have outproduced him and still have years to go before they reach their primes?
He could end up being the best of the 5 in the future but right now, that statement is just the ramblings of a fan with the homer glasses on too tight.
I have to assume that the poster forgot/ missed Tavares.
But I don't think its a stretch to predict that MacKinnon ends up better than the other 3. Both Nuge and Yakupov were viewed as relatively weak first overalls--particularly the latter--and while Hall is far and away a better player now, MacKinnon has the tools to eventually surpass him (and the positional advantage of being a center over a winger).
Its not a sure thing, but it certainly isn't that outrageous to suggest that MacKinnon could be the best 1st overall since 2009.
Doubt it, I think the coach is just trying to get the message through to him. He has streaks of playing good and streaks of playing pretty bad. Doubt anything related to Kulikov happens until the deadline or draft day.
Tell me what you guys have besides Monahan, Baertschi and Brodie? Something that will entice Florida to trade away a future top pairing defender? Jankowski? Sure thing bud. An undersized Gaudreau who will likely not be as effective as you think at the pro level?
Poirer, Klimchuk, Gilles, Wotherspoon, Sieloff are also very nice pieces.
Considering the various rumors of him being moved (Friedman says he was almost dealt to Toronto last year, there's also the rumor of Kulikov+1st for COL 1st) as well as the Panthers beat writers speculating on that possibility, it does seem like a matter of time before he goes.
That said, I'm pretty sure this HS is just motivational.
Dan O'Toole: "So if I have this right, only acceptable goal celebration in NHL is to put hands at your sides and then feel shame."
