The hope from a team that needs defensive help is that the guy can get back to playing good hockey in a new scenery. He isn't very old and has potential still. That and the other hope is that you can get him at a discounted rate.

As is often the case when players are moved...

the real question is; how far "off-track" is he?

I strongly disagree. Let's see who is the better D man in 3 years, it will not be even close. The Flames need a more physical D man than another soft puck mover.

He's been a turnover machine. That's why he's scratched. Every scratch isn't a trade......

Doesn't really make sense...seeing as two are d-men and one is a goalie.

The idea is the same, they're not good enough to entice Florida to trade away a future top pairing guy.

How has this kid's progression gone? Has there been any glimpses of the "consistent top 4" dman he was projected to be?

Hey didn't you read the sign? No logic or reason allowed in this thread.

Yeah pretty much; we haven't been able to get any of our dmen to play a consistent game (except Phaneuf) and we've been desperately juggling the other 5 dspots around. Rielly certainly hasn't been "healthy scratch" material via his play, but being the rookie its often him that sits to try and get other bodies (Franson, Fraser, Gunnarson, Gardier, Ranger) out of their "funks".

Does the whole crappy Florida team get traded with him as well?

Kully will do well with a new coach and team.

The Panthers are a circus.

He has. The problem has been he seemingly suffers injuries when he looks like he is about to take the next step. His problems are not skill wise but mental. What he really needs to have is a full season without major time lost.

Islanders? Supposedly Snow is really not happy and is looking for trading partners. Kulikov makes sense.

My doubts are that they passed on him in the f
Draft and its the islanders. Other than that I think it would be a solid move for the isles.
What would Florida want though ?

See my post about him in the other Kulikov thread. He's just not very good currently. It seems like a lot of fans of Western Conference teams want him on their team because they haven't watched him play. He's on a terrible team but that doesn't excuse him turning over the puck multiple times every night. I'm not talking a turnover near the boards either they're often blind passes straight up the middle or a pass right in front of his net because he's being pressured. Florida would be better off to give him a few years surrounded by better players than to sell low on him though.

Bobby Mac on Insider Trading said FLA is trying to get an auction going for him. ''Very aggressively shopping him.''

Video is on TSN.ca.

So your coach is sitting a player that would help you win just to help other players get better?

That said, I'm pretty sure this HS is just motivational.
How does trading a top 5-10 pick and a top 4 dman for a 15-30 pick make ANY sense?

Wouldn't Colorado be all over this??
Too bad they didn't still have Downie.

A base of Downie for Kulikov would be nice.

He's talking about the draft that just passed.

It was rumored that Florida offered their 2nd overall pick + Kulikov for the 1st overall pick
