dream sports does not ask for their jerseys back, no

shoulder pads are also optional, for the record. the only things i needed to buy going from roller to ice were ice skates (obviously), ice hockey pants, and some hockey socks (compression shorts or a garter belt to hold them up as well). shins, elbows, helmet, gloves, and stick from roller all will work fine.

That's about what I figured, but it's good to know shoulder pads aren't required. I listed everything I could think of in case anyone else was wondering, but I have a lot of it covered. I already have a pair of ice skates and most of the protective stuff from roller should still work since I haven't grown much taller since then... just wider. This actually sounds pretty manageable.

If you need startup equipment, I suggest going on Craigslist and looking for people getting rid of their old stuff. Skates being the obvious exception, you really don't want someone else's skates.

Hey NCSU folks, sorry for taking so long but I just finished my exams. I just sent out PM's to those who were interested with some info regarding the IM ball hockey team, let me know if you didn't get it, or if anyone else is just seeing this send me a PM and I'll get back to you!

Anyone else interested in the ice hockey team? Anyone know somebody who would be?

We need 3-5 more players for a viable roster.

The alternative would be to merge with an existing team... I know my team would be happy to have 6 more players...

That might be logical, especially if you guys already have a decent goalie in place and are playing low level already.

Lower C... if you have functioning legs, you can play.

I'll give it a couple of days to see if anyone else signs on (especially a goalie) and if not, I'll send a PM to those on the list with info.

Totally off topic and I can't play if I wanted to but is it hard to skate? I'm not the most coordinated person in the world and almost 29..

Always wondered what its like to skate.

It's awkward at first but kind of like riding a bike or skateboard, you gradually find your balance with repetition.

I find it's hard for a lot of people to get past the initial feeling that they're hopeless on skates. After some practice, anyone can do it.

I'm going to pick up a few things I need after work today, so I should be ready whenever. I figure the selection at Five Hole is probably as good as anywhere else in town (looks like Cool Sports is gone), so I'll probably head there unless there are better prices to be had locally.

There is also a pro shop at the Cary Ice House (where the consolation game is at tonight) that sometimes has better prices than Five Hole. Five Hole's prices are pretty horrible, though. Sure, you don't pay for shipping and you get to try things on before you buy them, but you also are paying sometimes double the price of some things. Especially sticks.

LOL. I'm confused. Nothing new there.

Is this for NCSU intramural or rec league?

Good to know. I had planned to get some pants, socks, garter, and maybe a new helmet since I found a crack in my old one, but the helmet can probably wait if it's a no-contact league.

Tentatively. The biggest issue is my work travel, which will be frequent through March.

One of the payment options looks like you pay for 9 games and then 23 dollars extra for each game you attend after that. The season is 17 games. Maybe that would work for your schedule?

Yep, that's the way it's been in the past so I assume it will stay the same.
