Let's see if Morin can get the scoring lead back before he's mostly likely called back up.
I wished they'd just call up Mueller instead. Whoever the call up probably won't play above Jeffrey. They're going to get called up to be a scratch and safety against another injury.

End of the first and Texas looking good. Iowa survives but had a few good chances. One in particular was shot that goes through Nihlstorp and lands on the line but Nemeth is able to get it out.

Continues to be hard hitting.

Also this should be a pleasant surprise. Glennie has looked absolutely great out there. I think he's the reason that line has been clicking so well.

He may get a call up over Sceviour. Just watch.

Speaking of Glennie. He scores the first goal of the night with a nice writer from inside the blue line after taking it all the around behind the net.

End of the Second. 1-0 Texas.

Haha there was a faceoff with 1.2 seconds on the clock in the Iowa zone. They pulled Nihlstorp for an empty net faceoff. Nothing happened but it was funny.

Looks like they changed the Glennie goal to Ritchie who was screening Keumper. It was hard to tell from my seat or the replay but Ritchie probably got a piece of it.

Edit: Nevermind they're giving it back to Glennie.

Iowa ties it up half way in the third on the power play.

The officiating in this game has been.... Questionable.

End of the third and we're going to OT. Plenty of chances with Texas getting the edge
Both goalies playing well. Shots are 41-38 Texas.

Texas wins with a great feed from Dowling to Sceviour who pulls a dirty dirty move to score.

I was just about to try and figure out what was going on:

Austin B Smith ‏@MagicHatNine 23m

Starting the long journey to Pori Finland. Excited for a new opportunity and chance to play in Europe!
Dallas has assigned ECHL level guys to Finland before. They sent Clune there IIRC (or was it Lammers), and Tom Wandell left the ECHL to play in Finland as well I believe.

I'm assuming though this was something the team offered and not him bolting.

It was Lammers. B.J. Crombeen also spent a season in Ässät.

He's actually had a pretty good start to this season. He just hasn't done enough to break into the AHL. He's pretty much dominated the ECHL last season.

Maybe this is a way to get him some different competition? It may be a mutual parting. It's the last year of his contract, he's 25, and having issues breaking into the AHL.

The official word is loan:

Quote:
Mark Stepneski ‏@StarsInsideEdge

The Dallas Stars have loaned RW Austin Smith to Assat of the SM-Liiga in Finland.
Real news will be at the end of the year to see 1) if they qualify him or 2) do qualify him and he decides to reject the offer and remain in Europe for a bit.

Dallas would then retain his rights for a couple more years, and he wouldn't count against the roster limit.

I hope they have the brains to just let him go. He really doesnt look like NHL material.

Well we need someone who can put the vulcanized rubber into the net so hopefully Smith can help with that.. 1 win out of 14 isn't pretty for the champs..

Welp it's game time again. Looks like Campbell is in net. Texas also signed a dman to a PTO. Wrenn looks to be out and didn't see Nemeth out in warmups. Hopefully its just a cold or something (lots of that going on around here).

Watch it be something worse

Texas wins 2-1. Hedden scored with a nice deflection of Joki shot from point. Morin got the second with a beautiful top shelf shot from a rebound. Wolves scored of a bad scramble where Campbell over commits to one side and gets caught up in players while a lone Wolves player gets the puck and scores.

Despite that goal Campbell played great. Good movement and very active and aggressive at going after the puck when it gets near him. He does love to play the puck though and a couple of scary moments.

Gaunce got the rare defenseman star (second star). He played absolutely great saving a couple of goals and making some great defensive plays.

Joki's skating is looking better. No longer looks like sonic the hedgehog when trying to get speed. Unfortunately it seems he's not used to it and has been out skating the puck.

Stransky was decent. Changing direction while at speed is definitely not his strong point. He also needs to work on his decision making and overall awareness.

McKenzie is showing some flaws in his play. He was involved in a few odd man rushes but just didn't have the skills to get the puck to his teammates. He's still great along the boards and in front of the crease but he's not one to create plays from skilled play.

Glennie is looking fantastic. I don't think if he'll be that goal scorer people expected from him but he plays fast and hard and in that way is able to create plays.

Think that covers what I've seen from tonight and the last fee games for Dallas prospects.

Oh my, the audio in that is horrendous. Levels fluctuate between barely audible to ear blasting.

One of the few times I miss a game. Granted it's only San Antonio and sounds pretty much what I expected, Texas dominating, SA gooning it up, and a few fights.

I'm sure I'll see the same thing Wednesday.

Another game night we go. Campbell in. Oleksiak is back. Nemeth is still out (I haven't heard why, anyone know?)

Against SA. Forgot they traded Grummet-Morris and picked up Rob Madore. I love watching short goalies but that guy stoned Texas when with the Checkers last season so I'm actually worried if he starts tonight.

He also has the goalie pads I really want too....damn those are nice.
