Rask - FIVE HOLE

Anyone know if he has a history of this. Just saw a gif today from last year's finals I assume where Toews scores 5-hole.

No, shoot high on his glove side (same applies to Fleury, the Habs' opponent in the next round.

I heard if you screen a goalie and shoot high, you'll have much success.

Why did you say that?? The Bruins will use that against us.

So Rask has two weaknesses which, taken together, took the Bruins to a shaky situation, giving up at least 3 goals each and every game in this series...

Maybe the Rags can turn it around...

Suggests that shooting low is not optimal.

Actually % of goals that go in based on number of shots fired would be a better metric. If you allow 17 goals on 17 shots, that is a pretty good spot to aim for!

No weakness. Only thing that gives hope is that he hasn't exactly had a great history against the Habs.

Wow, 14 shots went through Rask's pads, and 23 through the blocker?

And 17 shots were aimed at his groin.

that's because Melanie Lucille is on his team and that graphic doesn't include shots in practice

A long time ago, I don't remember when, I read about a player (Lafleur? Really not sure) who used to target the goalie head for the first few shots of the game. You know, just to rattle him a bit.

I wonder if players do that. Or if scoring is so difficult, you use every opportunity you have.

That was Bobby Hull talking on "Legends of Hockey" at about 1 minute in

Gionta is suspected of deliberate wide shots to strain goalie eyesight.

I bet if you shot high while he was screened it would improve your chances of scoring on him. Just sayin'

I believe if you just shoot the puck in general you have a chance of scoring.

Someone tell Gallagher that the puck goes in the net...

Unless some of those goals that were scored up high were from rebounds off shots down low.

You'd think Rask's weakness was shots in general based on this series.

Jokes aside, just shoot on him enough and it will go in. He plays under a good system but if you bypass the system with a breakaway he's nothing special. Since we can't get this often just make him move back and forth laterally and odds are you'll score. He was completely out of position on Vanek pass to Plekanec. Hell, even shots from the point seem to be a mutual weakness this series.
