Erat-Legwand-Sullivan
Hartnell-Allison-Walker
Upshall-Johnson-Hall
McKenzie*-Smithson-Tootoo

hamrlik-timonen
eaton*-hamhuis
suter-zidlicky
Hnidy*

Vokoun Mason

Another shot

Erat-Legwand-Sullivan
Hartnell-Lindros-Walker
Upshall-Johnson-Gamache
Hall-Smithson-Tootoo

Hamrlik-Timonen
Rathje-Hamhuis
Suter-Zidlicky

Although this would leave us without a "goon" we'd still have enough of a physical force by adding Lindros

One thing that I have just recently realized that if they actually start calling more of the obsctruction calls, etc. that smaller players such as gamache will not be AS much of a liability.

IMO its not a smart coaching decision to play Tootoo without an Enforcer in the line-up.

Also don't forget Stevenson is under contract for next year, and its not a two way deal. I think Stevenson adds a lot to the club in a 4th line roll, and I really would like to see him stay. If only we could find an enforcer who was a center.

the question for me becomes, Erat or Gamache? I dont see a need for both of them on the same team.

I think it's a little to early to predict lines, although I would like to see Foote in a Preds uni.

Explain? Erat plays similar to Sullivan too, do we not need a Sullivan? I'll take 4 Erats

I mostly agree with at least one Triggerman version. Here is mine:

Erat-[Lang]-Sullivan
Hartnell-Legwand-Walker
Upshall-Arkhipov*-Hall
[enforcer- I'll say a trade with Avs for Worrell]-Johnson- Tootoo
(Stevenson)

timonen-eaton (poile is feigning displeasure on eaton to try to keep the price down)
hamhuis-suter
zids-[dman du jour- currently Hamerlik but I think we get more of a "B" grade UFA than an "A"]

I would not consider the two interchangeable.
Don't get me wrong, I like Gamache and would like to see him get a shot, but Erat has proven he can play thru the whole season plus in the big leagues. One of our most under-rated players, although he did get open some eyes in the playoffs last yr.
If I had to choose one of the two, right now Erat gets the nod in my book.

Similar does not equal equivalent to. Once Erat's production reaches Sullivan's level, I'll agree, but currently, Sullivan is infinitely more valuable to the offense than Erat.

That being said, I think Erat is a key player for this and future seasons - seems to have more potential than Gamache given his somewhat healthy amount of experience

I'd love to see Lang in a Preds uni, especially after he manhandled our centers in the playoffs, but Detroit bought out a number of players today, and Lang wasn't among them.

My newest theory (post Hordichuk trade and Arky signing rumor) is that Poile isn't going to shop for a first/second line center, he is going to buy/trade for a first line winger:

Either:

Erat-Legwand-Hejduk
Hartnell-Hall-Sullivan
Upshall-Johnson-Walker
Hordichuk-Stevenson-Tootoo

Demitra-Legwand-Sullivan
Hartnell-Hall-Walker
Erat-Johnson-[Upshall/Gamache/Ortsagh]
Hordichuk-Stevenson-Tootoo

If Arky stays, then Hall doesn't play center and we have my personal favorite:

Demitra-Legwand-Sullivan
Hartnell-Johnson-Walker
Erat-Arky-Hall
Hordichuk-Stevenson-Tootoo

you could be right. a guy like demitra is nice because he can play both wing and center.

How about this

Hartnell-Sullivan-Walker
Erat-Legwand-Upshall
Stevenson-Johnson-Hall
Hordichuk-Smithson-Tootoo

One thing's for sure with that line-up we don't lack toughness or speed.....

Now let's say we do get that dream of landing Demitra

Now we have

Sullivan-Demetra-Walker
Erat-Legwand-Hartnell
Stevenson-Johnson-Upshall
Hordichuck-Hall-Tootoo
With Hall picking up some of Upshall's shifts. Can Upshall play center? A line of Hordichuck-Upshall-Tootoo would be fun to watch.

yes, because players always perform well after they just lost a child, I don't want any part of Demitra

Projected lines with two FA signings:

Sullivan, Demitra (FA), Walker
Erat, Legwand, Hartnell
Upshaw, Hall, Gamache
Stevenson/Hordichuk, Johnson, Tootoo

Timmonen, Rathje (FA)
Suter, Hamhuis
Klein/Weber, Zidlicky
Klein/Weber

Vokoun
Mason

This leaves Orzagh and Archipov out along with Hnidy and Eaton unless Klein and/or Weber do not make the jump.

All four lines of fowards feature speed and skill. The fourth line takes away offensive skill and increases checking.

The third line allows Hall to mature his offensive game between two skilled forwards.

David

Eaton will only get left out if he is traded. There is no way Eaton is demoted or release to bring up Klien/Weber this year. If he is traded, I think it has to be part of a package that brings a big time forward to the team. Eaton's invite to US olympic camp can't hurt his value if Poile is using him for bait.

ONE of Eaton\Hnidy will be re-signed, but I doubt both. It seems like Hnidy's name is still being mentioned...whereas Eaton's is curiously absent whenever Trotz\Poile is talking about the team this year. I'd see it this way:

Timonen FA
Hamhuis Suter(great pairing in the AHL, a lot of chemistry...and our future top pairing)
Zidlicky Hnidy
