It should be Akeson. I like Raffl but on the 4th line displacing Rinaldo or Rosehill, not on the 2nd line.

Tye McGinn has amassed a whopping 51 points in 127 games in the AHL. Why not call up Akeson? At least he won't handle the puck like he's trying to slide a twelve pound brick up the ice.

Akeson I think would do well with Giroux. I know he would lose size on the LW, but it would do well, I think. Also a change of pace for Giroux who may have a winger that could put it in the net. Also, I do think Akeson likes to imitate Giroux on the PP.

Akeson isn't exactly putting it in the net in adk.

Raffl-Schenn-Simmonds is a brutal second line. I know they technically play less than the third line but, damn.

Neither is McGinn and all of our forward prospects either just aren't good prospects or aren't doing well in the AHL or both. So it's not like we're comparing Akeson to someone who is a clearly better option here.

McGinn isn't and never will be a scorer at the AHL or NHL level. He's a good spark plug type of player that usually manages to get a few goals every time he's called up for some reason then taper off and get sent down.

Akeson has never really been given an actual shot at the NHL lineup (he was called up very briefly once upon a time but that's about the extent of it) and he's probably the best goal scorer in our forward prospect pool from what I've been lead to understand. So he would make more sense.

None of this really matters though. Instead of arguing over two non NHL scorers and which one should get the shot we should probably be more concerned that all it takes is one injury to our already sub par top six to force us to either break up the Couturier line or put a guy like McGinn/Akeson/Raffl into a scoring role. Our forward prospect pool is horrible too. Flat-out. Laughton is a quality prospect, but he's also a center and we always have a logjam at center at the NHL level.

Are those scratches confirmed?

If so, that actually does piss me off. Raffl on the second line (which can't be helped as far as Berube goes, but it's very indicative of our top six depth), Rosehill and Rinaldo on the fourth line, and Meszaros in at all. Like, what the ****?

This pretty much confirms that Berube is pure ******** as far as his accountability preaching goes. Rosehill went full retard earlier in the season (forget which game, but he got called for a penalty, almost entered the box, then turned around and skated across the ice to start stuff) and never seemed to be held accountable. Rinaldo went full retard just last game and he's back in the next game. It's not like these are good players either. Rosehill doesn't bring anything besides veteran presence on the fourth line and Rinaldo is an energy guy and hitting machine when he's not doing crazy crap. Then there's Meszaros too. The guy gets a goal and a nice spinorama assist but the entire season he's been consistently horrible defensively despite facing the weakest competition. Yet a guy like Gustafsson has a few turnovers one game and he's sent to press box hell and I'm convinced Gill is signed purely to be a permanent scratch.

I'm sorry to rant, but that pisses me off a lot. Just ******** from the coach right there in so many ways and hypocritical to boot. The Gill signing also makes no sense right now considering he never plays and there's clearly 7 D ahead of him with some bias playing into that.

Akeson has a very under rated shot. Much like Giroux he likes to pass but when he shoots he can score some really beauties. Lets not forget that Akeson has been putting up points for a while now and was doing so essentially with no offensive support. In his rookie season he had 41 assists, and that's while feeding the puck to the Testwuide, Holmstrom and Harper's of the AHL every night.

Hoping for a big game from Couturier to shut up all the Sens fans who actually think Zibinegad is better ( I don't give a crap if I spelled his name wrong).

Well he's the best option we have. It's slim pickings. It's not like we can recall Laughton from the OHL.

Berube said there would be no lineup changes from the last game. Whether the lines are altered, that is another matter but the team had just the one early practice yesterday and a skate today.

Isn't his defensive game non existent? Ive read he's getting better but still the guy sounds like another Matsumoto. Ive never seen him play though to be fair. Still I don't think the decision between mcginn and akeson is the differerence between a w and l.

He can't be any worse than the rest of top six defensively. This team needs some creativity on offense. Akeson provides much more of that than McGinn.

Nice GDT. Obvious lots of effort went into it! Can't imagine a situation where you guys don't wreck the Sens tonight, they've been pretty bad. Best of luck, hoping for a clean game with no injuries.

PS
Zibby's better

Line rushes indicate no changes from the last game. Same with D pairs.

Vinny being out long term hurts us badly. Only imagine if Giroux or Coots went down for an extended period, this team would be a lottery team.

Well I mean top 5...... We aren't that bad yet, and are fighting for a playoff spot.

Also Dreger has Claude Giroux as the 2nd line RW on his Olympic roster.
